I’ve been a member on this board for quite a while ever since Pruitt was recruiting a kid from a high school where I live at. I don’t post but I visit the board daily. Next Saturday will be my first time ever in Knoxville and getting to see my Vols in person ever. I’m super excited. Looking for recommendations on places I should eat and what hotel should I book for reservations.

Hungry before kickoff? Try these restaurants and bars before walking to Neyland Stadium

If its your first time to the area, and you don't already have a hotel reservation, I would suggest getting an AirBNB or VRBO in the mountains. Its really beautiful this time of year and for the money, you should be able to get a nice cabin or small house somewhere within driving distance.

If you type in cabins in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge in a search engine, there are a multitude of them. Depending on your needs, anything from a one bedroom to 20-30. Holy cow, I can't imagine the fee for something like that. We have spent several stays in both places, and it's not gonna break the bank.

Calhoun's on the River is my restaurant go to. I usually park there too for $40. If you try to pull up to eat and leave on gameday, they will charge you $40 and give you $20 back if you leave. So if i dont park their for the game I end up walking there.

Ive been eyeing this one in North Georgia for a while, but its $1500 a night. Sleeps 20 but has a heated pool, game room, 2 master suites, theater, hot tub, etc. I just cant get my buddies in on it

Yeah, that's a lot of coin for sure. If you have enough of a group to divide it up so it's not so much per person, it would be great. Good luck on getting them on board.

For a place with the walls covered by signed photos of players, old newspapers, etc., check out Gus' Good Times Deli next to the Varsity Hotel.

As someone mentioned already you can't go wrong with market square. I haven't been in nearly 10 years but the casual pint was a good place to have a few cold ones. Tupelo Honey, soccer Taco, and sweet P's are good dinner spots and tupelo Honey and Pete's are great for breakfast but I think Pete's is closed on Sunday mornings. You'll need to nurse your Sunday scaries accordingly

Just curious. How did you become a Vols fan since you aren’t from the area and have never been to Knoxville? Hope you have a great trip.

Don't miss the memorabilia and atmosphere at Saloon 16 and the Graduate.

There is a dedicated thread on Knoxville restaurants, but a few of my favorites (and I do like to eat):

Lonesome Dove
JC Holdway
Vida
Oliver Royale
Kefi
Brass Pearl
Chesapeakes
Nama

Go up to Pigeon Forge and do some of the attractions. Old Mill Restaurant is a great place to eat lunch, might have to wait a little while for a table but worth the wait. Downtown Knoxville if you like BBQ hit up Sweat Peas. Calhouns on the River is a great atmosphere and Basilio is live outside there on Friday during lunch.

A first time trip to Neyland:
--Calhoun's on the River on Friday night would be a good move
--Eat somewhere in Market Sq before the game
--Ye Olde Steakhouse after the game
--Get to the stadium early so you can see the "Players Walk" about 2 1/2 hours before kick off and the band come down the hill an hour later.
--Be in your seat in time for the pregame that is "unrivaled"
--No matter the score, you have to stay for the playing of the Tennessee Waltz after the game.
