What's up VolNation? I bought tickets for the Air Force game and was wondering on where the best places to hang out and tailgate are at? This will be my first time to Neyland and I want to get the whole experience. I'm coming from North Carolina, but I'm a huge Vols fan and just want some info from the best fans in college football....any recommendations/invitations?

I am getting into town late Friday night. I'm staying at the Hampton Inn & Suites on Main Street...the guy doing my hotel booking said its 3 blocks from Neyland.

 It is the new one they just built on the corner of Cumberland and Henley Street... on the downtown side. It looks really nice. The walk will be a lot of downhill, then a little back up. I could try and explain how to get right to the stadium... what gate are you going in?

I dunno which gate I'm going in. What I would like to do is get there early and find some tailgaters and just take in the whole experience. My seats are in section F, but I haven't looked at which gates to go in yet.

You better cheer loud! You're right behind one of the student sections! :dance2: :dance2:

I'll see if I can draw you a map of how to get to where all the tailgaters are...

Oh don't worry about cheering loud. I just graduated from UNC Charlotte...we don't have a football team, and I have been a lifetime Tennessee fan, so I have been saving up a whole lot of yelling. I am really psyched that the tickets are there with the students. I wouldn't have it any other way!

Sweet! I'm in D row 17 for AF.

Ok, go here. The University of Tennessee: Maps & Directions

First choose grid 8, it shows your hotel right there on the top right of that map... you'll want to walk west on what is shown as Main (it is Cumberland as soon as you cross 441) Click the button to move it North once, to see that street a little better.

This will have you going down a hill until you get to Estabrook Rd. Here you can either keep going on Cumberland up a hill, or turn left onto Estabrook road and head toward the stadium. I would take Estabrook then follow "Lower Drive" around the back side of Perkins... this goes about halfway up the hill, but is much less of a grade than had you stayed on Cumberland. you'll go behind Neilsen and Hesler, and start back down infront of Alumni Memorial. This has you at the corner of the UC parking deck and Neyland Stadium's Gate 21. Anyone else can tell you where to go from there.

 I'm in seat 13. I'll probably drop by your tailgate this week. I wanna catch the VolWalk and the Salute to the Hill. :)

Here's a Paint special for you Buck33jr. I hope it is legible... the route I explained is in red, and Gate 21 is the red circle... there are tailgating parking lots where I put the red squares, and the Vol Walk is the lower orange route, and the Band's route for the Salute is the other one... the Salute to the hill occurs at the red star. :)

Ya know, I've never even seen Neyland Stadium. I've been through Knoxville several times on I-40, and everytime I look for it and it's never there. Coming from the East, it's on the right (right?) but I can't see the friggin place. Is it that far from 40?

Not much of a tailgate this week but you are welcome to swing by. We are saving up for the Gators. :)

It is down next to the river. There is a short ridge between 40 and campus, plus quite a few tall buildings.
