Ok, this may sound radical, but bear with me. After not only listening to Kellie and JW and Rae talk about Sara, but seeing their expressions when they made their comments, I think it’s entirely possible Sara becomes a starter later in the year, once she gets acclimated to the speed and toughness of college ball. Kellie has said she can do it all, I believe her, I’ve seen Sara’s training videos which showed her work ethic, and an LV practice video where she grabbed a rebound and made her own shot, made a layup, and sunk I believe 3 3-pointers. Rae and JW agreed she is a “playmaker.”
Playmakers/scorers/someone who can do it all, will not be sitting on the bench. No one’s going to push this player around and she is physically fit enough to still be strong come tournament time. I believe Kellie said she can play almost every position on the floor. Until she is a starter, she can sub in at several positions.
So, depending on the matchups, fouls, and temperament at the time, I believe JH and JW mostly sub for each other rather than both being on the floor at the same time. Neither are prolific scorers, so if Sara is, you have to get her in the game. Horston’s forte is defense and assists, Walker has the calmness and sometimes provides a needed spark, they’ll both be needed.
So, if the starting 5 becomes Rae, Tamari, Alexus, Jordan/Jordan, and Sara, I believe Tess will be coming in for Rae and Sara, and Green will come in for Alexus. Green is listed as a F/C, so even though she seems short for a center, possibly she can play there for short periods, depending on matchups.
All I know for sure is first game is less than 4 days away, can’t wait! GLV!!!
