Staff has to evaluate the process for this next class a bit. They swung big and I love that but they need to balance some of these fringe guys better. Heck even take some of them as commits and drop them later if needed. That’s how Saban did it early on, caught a lot of crap for it but wasn’t uncommon for him to kick 4-5 players to the curb close to signing day.

Better hurry and call Pruitt to let him know how Saban did it; it's not like he was on staff for Saban's first 5 years at Bama.

Pruitt will learn, this I'm sure of.
I think he is used to closing on top end talent when he was at uga, fsu, & bama. I think he realizing that it's harder to close when this program has been an overall bottom tier sec program for 10 something years...

Not sure if this is true, but i read UT offered more players this cycle than any school. I agree that the offer doesn’t drive action like it once did.

I remember about 10 years ago, Mack Brown was about one entire class abead and the offers were so rare that they got commitments from over 80% of those offered. But even they screwed up by not responding to players blowing up their Sr year.

You have to cast that net out there after a 4-8 season. It’s the best way plus it gets your name out there for future recruiting especially with all the high schools. It’s actually very smart in my opinion making all those new connections.
