Are there any Flaming Lips fans around? One of my favorite bands. They've been around since the late 80's but only got popular (semi) in the last few years. Can't think of a band that has experimented with more sounds that the Lips.

Yeah I'm a big fan. I'm hoping they come through Nashville again.

I like the Lips. I find their concerts fun. I like their albums and have for years.

That said, there's also negatives to the band. It's pretty much been the same stage show for the last decade. Fun, but after a few times, you just wish there would be more material in rotation.

The guys are also a bit strange and it makes listening to them a challenge sometimes. Raise your hand if you've ever gotten 4 stereo systems together to orchestrate a proper listening of Zaireeka?

The documentary on them interesting, much like their music. Same for the book. All in all, I'd take the Lips over plenty of other bands. A fun live show that good to see every few years.

The Floyd stuff is alright, but I'd rather hear them play more of their own catalog.

It's amazing to me that any record company would sign off on something like Zaireeka. It was funny watching the documentary and seeing that Wayne actually wanted to do more disks than 4.

Soft Bulletin and everything afterward is definitely more listener friendly than the previous stuff, but the early stuff still has some gems.

By the way, to any interested, the documentary is called "Fearless Freaks" and you can watch it for free on Hulu.com.

Saw them at Bonnaroo a few years back. They played Dark Side of the Moon then maybe 2 of their own songs, neither of which I really cared for. I was quite disappointed.

They've been popular since the mid-90's.

I'm a fan.

I think you had too many goodies at the show. They are playing Dark Side this year.
