Bad move or good move?

He had an undefeated season and he is losing a first round WR...no where to go but down imo

Western Michigan: PJ Fleck and WMU are engaged in active contract negotiations on a new deal, according to The Detroit News, and things are “close” to being finalized.

Seems like it's the only move. He isn't getting any of the open jobs. Surprisingly, he wasn't even able to land an interview for most of them.

It's really strange, because he seems like an awesome coach that would pump up any down fanbase. It makes me wonder if there is something in his personal life that schools are aware of that hasn't been made public.

The only knock I've ever heard on him is he is extremely arrogant and has a big ego...certainly not the first coach to suffer from that though

They return 34 guys from their two-deep. 20 of the top 22 on defense are back next season.

definitely a great core...he might see the writing on the wall at ND and is holding out for one more year

Other boards are saying there are rumors about character issues or flags with him. He is about as bad as CBJ about throwing cliches out too, granted no champions of life level cliches.

I think everyone was hesitant to throw a contract his way based upon one year of hype.

Now if he goes out and gets crushed in the Cotton Bowl, several programs will feel good about passing up on him. And if he goes out there and wins, several will have his agent's phone number on speed dial.

Does Dan Mullen have the same issue?

He's already burned his signature catchphrase (Row the boat!) at Western Michigan. How would he motivate a power 5 squad? What's he going to say? Pedal the bike? Gas up the car? Replace the flux-capacitor? He's stuck for the rest of his career.

Lets see, coach at W Michigan and win some more and wait and see what happens next year. Or go to Purdue and lose your momentum.
