I know both the stars of the show. My wife was Doug's nanny a few years back and now they are like family to us. It was crazy to see his pipe dream for this reality show come to pass. Couldn't be happier for him. :dance2::pepper:

Oh yeah, and the show's good! I've seen the pilot he pitched to all the networks.

Utah house flippers will star in a national TV show | The Salt Lake Tribune

Word is Spike is really excited about this show, and they think it could be their next big thing. They already extended the pilot season from 6 episodes to 11.

We are actually doing this right now. A home that appraised for 345, we bought for 159. Has a little bit of mold damage as well that will cost 24,000 to repair. Hopefully will flip and sell around the 300,000 range. This would be our second project that we have turned.

That's the idea. The business is so funny. It seems simple, but Doug is always running into BS. Buying homes with stolen cars in the garage, meth labs, bio-hazards, etc. He bought a home for $45K and the city bought the front 10 yards of the plot to widen the road, but they bought it from the old homeowner while he was still squatting so they had to repurchase the land from Doug. They paid Doug like $28K so he was into a $90K home for about $20K and he had no idea it was going to work out that way. It's a weird business.

Meh, its been done already with Flip This House and The Adam Carolla Project. Seems pretty tapped out to me.

I think this one is a little bit different. I don't think other shows focus on the drama of evictions. These are specifically foreclosures, not just flipped homes.

so it's going to have that FAKE feel to it like that Repo show?

I don't know. I guess we'll have to wait and see. The clips I've seen aren't fake. The pilot wasn't fake. They set up scenarios where it's kind of scripted, like they find an old gun and take it to an expert for an assessment and the expert is made aware beforehand, but they present it like they just walked in off the street. I think they want the drama to be as real as possible, and there's plenty of it.

BTW, the show has been postponed. Start date is Oct. 15, and the name has been changed to "Flip Men".

Anyways, Spike should start airing commercials any day now.

Flip Men commercials are airing. Saw it on Ultimate Fighter. Officially starts Oct. 25th.

Flip Men had a premier here in SLC. The pilot is really good. Spike is banking on this to be a popular show. They put it in the their top slot with Auction Hunters (Spike's #1 program) as the lead-in show.

I go to Kari Byron when I'm in need for hot tv redheads.

They don't have a hottie on this one, but they do have somebody who is so perfect she appears to be a plant. Their foreman for the repairs crew is this pettite biker chick all tatted up. She's been their foreman for like 8 years.

The camera and audio crew members are all independent contractors and they've worked on every reality show you can think of. When they first got on set they were all convinced she was a plant because they know how fake reality TV can be. Doug said many crew members have commented about how authentic this show is.

Closed two weeks ago........little under the 300,000, but worth the work and pain of flipping. Will wait for a long while to do the next one since this took a lot out of us this time.
