Florida’s NIL deal taking 15% of future NFL earnings from player. 1st they don’t have the money to pay someone what they promised now taking future earnings. I think you could negative recruit pretty well with these things going on.

If the contract violates Florida's NIL statute, I don't see how this comes back to bite Florida? Sounds more like a shady handler type thing.
Because that’s two players that have been shafted by Florida NIL. I don’t mean the school itself but as a player would you sign an NIL who isn’t paying up and trying to get your future earnings.

And if I were another coach recruiting against they, I’d for sure be pushing that narrative! It’s a bad look no matter how Florida attempts to spin it.

Help me. What does this have to do with a handler. Player signed this deal, correct.
Some handlers have been accused of giving players money with the understanding that the player will pay it back after they get a professional contract. That's what this reminds me of. It just doesn't sound like a legit NIL deal.

Wow - after not paying as promised for the qb last year and now this, its hard to believe they are recruiting as well as they are this cycle!
All that will change once recruits realize money not even there and then taken 15% of NFL money. Yea, someone didn’t think that through.

Isn't that called a loan...with interest? Loaner "interest"ed in getting money back. Swamp crawlers peddling $$ for the suckers drawn in..

This seems like a "help, save me from the consequences of my own actions" kind of thing. For Pete's sake the company was called "Big League Advance". That's not exactly hiding what kind of deal it was. He got 460K up front, and this company took the risk of being out that money (in the event he didn't make it to the next level) in exchange for a well defined return. I notice he is only complaining now that it is his turn to hold up his end of the bargain (and to be clear, it was a bad deal for him, but people who are desperate for an influx of cash make such terrible deals all the time).

EDIT: this wasn't a UF specific deal. This company "invests" in prospects all over the country, across multiple sports.

All they see is $$$ when they are handed that pen. (And HELL YEAH I'm gonna be playing in the Swamp on Saturdays until my NFL gig comes thru!) It is exactly the same situation as signing for a student loan. 18 year old humans are too stupid to be entering high value contracts. But unfortunately for them, they are legal and binding.

All this NIL stuff is shady shat !
Nothing shady about it. Anyone that opens their eyes can see where this is going. It will kill the college football we all know and love and turn it into a farm for the NFL. It already is in a way, but it's gonna get worse. VFLs will be rare.

I can't believe even a 18yo would sign such a ridiculous contract. This was for 15% of PRE-TAX EARNINGS for 25 YEARS. His whole NFL career. The need for instant satisfaction among this generation is scary.

I'm pretty confident they are recruiting at such a high level because they are writing checks they can't cash. Telling kids they are "going" to get paid $$$$, then backing out or structuring some "payback" BS. Remember... these kids are young and stupid (relatively). And most may not have the best of "mentors" looking out for them.

This is incorrect. This “deal” is specific to this player, and the player was strongly-advised AGAINST taking this deal, but wanted that quick $400k. It had nothing to do with Florida or any of their AD-endorsed collectives.

Ok, ok
So your nil program offers terrible deals to players?

I get the want for any competitive advantage is viewed through UT colored glasses on here, as it is on most message boards, but take into account that he made a deal with a NIL group with 0 ties to the school. Not sure you can use this in recruiting against UF. This is essentially a case of leaving the resort property.
