The vegas line on UT @ UF opened at 4, and has dropped to 3. This will likely be a gut wrencher, and a sedative wil be in order to watch this one. Can Bruce continue his mastery over Billy D? Florida needs this one to enhance their chances for an NCAA bid. Is Tennesee already in? Probably, but anything less than a split in the last four would drop them to a lower seed--and a less favorable matchup. Beating UF on the road would certainly help the Vols' cause. With everything at stake, I have a bad feeling the Gators squeek by tonight. Hope I am wrong. If Bruce can pull this off, he will live up to the hype. Go Vols!

Lines are introduced to encourage betting, not necessarily the outcome of the game. I refuse to hold Bruce's entire legacy on this particular game. We are in the tourney, no questions asked.

Tenn will beat Fla tonight. The best thing is Tenn plays tonight and then get ready for Ky. Ky played last Tuesday and Vandy played Thursday at Ole Miss then played Ky on Sat night. That dont seem right.

Not too surprised really, Tennessee is going to have to play their best basketball if they want to win ANY of these last regular season games... I think we can do it. Go Vols

Wrong. Lines are based on power ratings with points added to the home team. Oddsmakers don't have the time to think up lines that will attract bettors, they simply adjust the original lines based on the action. Services such as Dunkel provide power ratings that are used to set the opening lines. Gamblers are going to bet--regardless of the point-spread, they use the spread to pick a side.

.... about as right as the fact we play at 9pm this Thursday night and then play you guys at noon Saturday. At least the Vandy game was at 6pm.

And this is about as right as Cal taking the UK job and not having to go through any rebuilding by taking his Memphis recruits with him. Course he had already made the down payments on em.

Really? If Tenn lost the last 4-----they would need to make the finals of the SEC tourney--IMO.

I didn't do a very good job making my point. I wasn't complaining, just pointing out that most every team in the SEC has had one of those quick turnaround games this year probably due to TV demands for Thursday night coverage. I think it actually helps prepare you for the NCAA Thurs-Sat and Fri-Sun format.

Not so sure, remember it was a one point Vol win at TBA.

As a rule, home court is worth 5-10 points.

I can't remember the last time the level of pessimism was so high on both sides.

Donovan's best teams ever struggled with Pearl, and you guys knocked off the #1 team in the country already.

I think UT wins by at least 6.

We've had two this year

KY plays SC this Thursday night, which may or may not be a good thing.

You're exactly right, and we had one earlier this year against south carolina I believe. Pearl even let it be known he has never seen such a discrepancy in the amount of time off for each school since he has been coaching.

Yeah, we've had our "share" of the quick turn around games. We had opponents resting for a week while we went through the grind. That part, when it happens, is unlike the tournament games where everyone is going at it with little space between games. I'm looking forward to the UT-UK rematch Saturday. I hope everyone, on both sides, is healthy for it.

KY plays SC Thursday night so that's going to be a quick turn around for them. I'm hoping this turns out to be good for us.
