Orlando Sentinel - Florida Gators OL Carl Johnson arrested by

University of Florida police arrested Gators offensive lineman Carl Johnson on Monday for violating a sexual violence restraining order, according to police records obtained by the Sentinel.

Johnson, 21, received the tempoary order to stay away from a woman last Monday but broke that order today when he followed her off a campus bus, according to the police report. Johnson had numerous chances to get off the bus but waited until the woman exited at the campus hub, the police report states.

The police report didn't detail the original incident involving the woman and Johnson, who faces a first degree misdemeanor. A clerk at Alachua County jail said Johnson had no previous jail records until he was booked at 1:21 p.m. No bond has been set.

Johnson, a rising redshirt junior, came into his own last season as an integral piece of Florida's offensive line. Johnson started nine games at left guard when senior Jim Tartt went down with a shoulder injury.

Team spokesman Steve McClain said Coach Urban Meyer is out of the country but the program is gathering information on the report.

This is the football team's third arrest since November. Cornerback Jacques Rickerson was kicked off the team for domestic battery. Quarterback Cam Newton, who has transferred, allegedly stole a student's laptop and threw it out of his dorm window upon police suspicion.

It'd be easy to pretend like this was just Florida's problem, but it seems a lot of college teams struggle with discipline issues as they become more and more successful. It's sad.

Yeah but it's our moral duty to gig the gators when they screw up...

If only he would have taken the advice of his coach when he was served the restraining order...

There are some details on this in the Orlando Sentinel. Apparently, Johnson had a girlfriend who got a temporary injunction against him contending that he engaged in date rape with her. They are supposed to go to court on that. In the meantime, he was not supposed to go near her and he apparently was on a bus with her and got off at the same stop.

The article contains some quotes from her petition. I never understate the severity of such situations, nor do I want to cast doubt on what she claims or on his response to the claimns since I was not there, but some of it seems odd to me.

the odd part will be the timing of his reinstatement by Meyer.

He allegedly date raped her 3 times. Wouldn’t you think that she would stop dating him after the first time?
