Sorry if already posted, but the Gators starting CB Adrian Bushnell and potential starting MLB Brendan Beal are no longer with the team. Not real big news, but just thought I would pass it along.

Beal hasn't ruled out return; he's headed to Wall Street for a summer internship but it has been some talk that he could end up at PSU,Pitt or Iowa...as far as Bushell not really sure what really happened but he was out at the start of spring practice because of grade issues...(rumor) had to take a redshirt his freshem yr because of his entrance exam and grades. Also some reports that he had an incident during finals week at a party. Either way he's gone.

Beal wasn't going to crack the starting spots and has pretty much seen the writing on the wall which has underclassmen passing him on the depth chart. Bushell has had academic problems since he got here but he was tabbed to start opposite Jenkins at CB before spring started (which he didn't participate in). Beal would be a bigger loss if he does indeed transfer just because of the inexperience at LB this coming year.

Good post.

Bostic has had the MLB spot locked down ever since he had a dozen tackles against Vandy while Spikes served his eye gouge suspension. Losing Beal definitely hurts in terms of depth in the middle.

Bushell has been a knucklehead since walking on campus two years ago.

Both of these players were 4 star per Rivals, signing in 2008. Beal was ranked as the #3 inside LB in the country. Bushell was ranked as the #15 athlete. Both were offered by lots of big time programs.

I am sure that there was lots of high fives all around gatorland when these 2 signed. Now they just slink quietly out of town. :hi:

I dont know why Beal is leaving I think only Jones, Hicks, Bostic, & Jenkins are above him as far as LB's go

I guess Bostic just beat him out for the MLB spot and he wants to start

Bostic is the starter @ MLB, and Jenkins/Piere-Louis are the starting corners. So, no. No, they didn't lose starters @ all. 3rd string MLB and a nickel back.

Pierre-Louis was a senior last year.

The contenders for the starting CB job opposite Janoris Jenkins are senior Moses Jenkins, redshirt sophomore Vince Brown and true frosh Joshua Shaw. I think MJenkins will start initially while Shaw learns the ropes (similar to JJenkins in '08).

The loss of Bushell is sad because he had great potential, but he didn't play in the spring and was passed on the depth chart by RS So Jeremy Brown and SR Moses Jenkins. He left because: A. He couldn't take care of academics, and B. He lost his starting job, and IDK if anyone here noticed, but there was some serious DB talent just recruited. Josh Shaw and Jaylen Watkins were already getting his reps. It's a loss, but it won't hurt UF because of good recruiting.

Beal is a big loss because he was such a strong tackler at ILB. Perfect for run stopping when UF moved to more of a 3-4 look. But, he had been passed on the depth chart by RS Fr Jelani Jenkins (who is tabbed to start as of now at MLB) and So. Jon Bostic. Beal just didn't have the lateral quickness to play in pass coverage, and he was way too slow for OLB. I liked this kid, and I'm sad he's leaving. But UF has a ton of LB and won't miss him much in 2010.
