yup, the marlins really cleaned the cupboard, but they may be the best team at developing players in the minors. this is the 2nd time recently that they traded off the team for minor leaguers. this year they traded lo duca, delgado, castillo, lowell, pierre, beckett, and mota. the rest are fas that they wont likely resign. in all fairness though, they said at the start of the postseason that their main focus was signing cabrera and willis to long extensions no matter what and they are doing that.

I actually heard that cabrera could have been pulled from the marlins for pie, hill, patterson, and guzman. but it deffiently isnt worth it espically for how much potential pie has.

This is exactly what they did after they won the '97 World Series. They bought up a bunch of free agents, won the World Series and then dumped everybody that had value.

It's probably a smart way to do things.

Yes, it was a very smart move. The fire sale of 97' garnered another WS championship for the Fish in 2003.
