Florida or Cali?

Cali has a much larger population and land mass so it would stand to reason they would generate more recruits.

This.

Plus we hear more about the FL recruits because they are obviously closer and more highly recruited by UT, but Cali definately has more.

I guess there is a difference too. CA has the bigger type players like Reggie Bush size and more 6'1-6'3 linebackers weighing 240 lbs that run 4.5. FL has the fast shaky type players like Nuke. But the CA type players are the ones that make it more to the NFL

Im not sure about skill players but Florida overall is the #1 state for recruits going to BCS schools. In fact, California isnt even 2nd. its Texas

Tommy Tuberville did an interview with Hyams or one of those guys and he talked about location being a key for recruiting. He mentioned a 200 mile radius.

I do think there is a correlation between teams that have year in and year out success and being within that promixity of enough high caliber recruits

I have always been under the impression that Florida and Texas were the most talent rich states for football.

Apparently high school football is REALLY big in Texas. That plus their huge population gives them a great amount of talent.

Actually I did not think Cali really compared to Texas and Florida.

The more you peel away the myths about recruiting bases etc., the more you realize that this coaching staff is doing what it absolutely has to do. I think choosing CLK (and bringing in CEO in to head up recruiting) was essential. CLK has the youthful energy to recruit nationwide, while we all pretty much assume Redbull is running through CEO's veins. Seriously though, he is either hated and/or revered when it comes to recruiting. Either way, he is a force to be reckoned with.

When you see schools like Texas with 9 out of 10 players coming from their home state, USC with something like 70+% from Cali, uf with 60+%. .its not an accident these programs win year in and year out.

The money, energy, time, and effort it takes to bring in bigtime talent on a consistent basis from way, way beyond the 200 mile radius for us is certainly a challenge. Time takes it toll, as it seems to have with CPF. . you have his recruiting toward the national championship. . recruiting in the afterglow of winning it. . and the subsequent inconsistancy that in part lead to his demise.

The good news is this coaching staff will stock the cupboards and put us back in the mix of winning big. If you dare think down the road. . well nevermind. I'm gonna dwell on the good news.
