Which is the more desirable job in 2019?...FSU has more tradition, a MUCH better recruiting area, and probably also has more "brand recognition" (although I absolutely cringe whenever I see or hear that in relation to colleges, but I digress)...But I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that Arkansas has significantly more money to work with...They're also the lone show in they're state, have a really passionate fan base, and play in the SEC, which is the most known and respected league in college football.

If you twisted my arm, I'd probably say Florida State is the better job...But only slightly, and it's way closer than most would think.

Arkansas is in much better shape financially, has better facilities overall, and is the only P5 program in the state.

But you have to live in Arkansas.

Northwest Arkansas is great. Not like the rest of the state.

I think Arkansas is a better job than it gets credit for (I’ve seen some say it’s among the worst in P5 for some reason, recency bias I guess) but not sure I’d pick it over FSU.

Simple...much easier to win big at FSU. FSU only has Clemson to compete with in ACC. Arkansas is no better than 3rd best program in SECW. Bama, Auburn, LSU...hard sledding. That said. Arky fan is happy with 8-4. 8-4 will eventually get you fired at FSU.

That could be one of the most ridiculous things I’ve read on VN. “Slightly” better?

Not even on the same planet. Arky has one advantage......they play in a better conference...........that they will NEVER win

No state income tax in Florida. Arkansas has one.

Outside of financial and football common sense reasons, Tallahassee is a much nicer area. Ocean an hour away. Better weather.

Last but not least, FSU is not in Arkansas-IMHO one of the most Godforsaken places on the map. When I drive from Dallas to Tennessee, I always make sure I top off the gas tank while still in Texas so I can cruise right through Arkansas without having to stop.

Y'all are buttholes for attacking the state itself, (although we spent a weekend in Hot Springs a couple years ago and it was lovely, and I won't even comment on the apparent "paradise" that is the Tallahassee metro area lol.) but aside from that, Arkansas has more money, no immediate competition for recruits, and the SEC which although is much tougher to win in consistently than the ACC, has WAY more cachet in terms of piquing the interest of top level coaches, who we know are all mostly egomaniacs.

I said FSU was probably the better job, but it is not "miles and miles and miles" better, it's just not.

I would think FSU the better job...prolly because of all the Championships Bobby Bowden piled up after they joined the ACC. Being the dregs of the SEC West would not be my idea of career advancement. But I agree, win 8 games and they give you a new car...10 and they name the stadium after you. Would not have thought that Arkansas has more money/better facilities. Is FSU in that bad of shape?

FSU fans think their program is in better shape than it actually is

FSU is one decent hire away from having a 2 game season to get in the playoff. Clemson and Florida. Arkansas is one decent hire from competing with Ole Miss and Miss State.

The university is not located in Pine Bluff lol. That's like saying who would want the Michigan job because you may have to drive through Detroit. If you took the northwest part of Arkansas and made it a state by itself it would be a top 10 state in many different metrics. The MSA is approaching 600,000 people so it's not some podunk place like many stereotype with Arkansas.

FSU, and it isn't remotely close. It isn't even debatable. FSU has more historical success/tradition, is easier to recruit, and is in the ACC (only really have to worry about Clemson).

Having money - and Tennessee fans should know this better than any other - is not a panacea. Just because you have money to spend or bring in a ton of revenue doesn't mean you'll make good decisions or have a good program.

All you really need to look at is the likelihood of getting to the playoff for each team. Isn't that really what fans want? FSU is much more likely to get there than Arky just due to the conference. While Arky has no real in state competition for recruits, the sheer talent pool in Florida makes the one in Arkansas look like a puddle. Even if FSU loses some top recruits to UF or Miami, the ones they still have available are better players than most of them that Arkansas has in state. The ESPN 300 list has 3 players from Arkansas on it. Florida has 50.

Arkansas close to TX....very fertile recruiting ground. The top 50 recruits in the state of TX:

Not sure if Arky's fans actually have the CFP as a goal. FSU's fans certainly do. I think Arky's fans want a respectable program that occasionally has a big year...like 8 wins most years but occasionally win more than that. I don't even know if they'd expect to win the SEC West with any sort of regularity. I think that 2011 season with Petrino is probably about as good as they can do in the modern SEC.

FSU is the better job. By far.

FSU current talent far better than Arkansas.
FSU recruiting much easier than Arkansas. Arkansas has very few D1 player, Florida has tons. UCF has made a living off of third or fourth rate Florida players. Arkansas has struggled to get Texas talent since joining the SEC.
FSU has NFL players that kids know, I doubt Arkansas can make much of an argument there.
FSU is a top 15 program, Arkansas is top 40ish. Arkansas has some history but has been down for a long time and plagued with some coach level scandals. FSU stuff never stuck to the players or coaches.
ACC is far easier to play in. Only one real team in the whole conference. SECW has three teams, maybe four, better than anyone not named Clemson in the ACC. Toss in two more, hopefully three soon, in the east, and it's not even an argument who has it easier.
Arkansas has easier goals, but hasnt reached them since Petrino. FSU even with limited resources has met their higher goals.

FSU. Its the premier school in the state of Florida, easier conference , so way easier to get rolling there. Arkansas probably does have way more cash, but will they spend it? Plus that job is going to be a nightmare to even get them back to 6-6.
