Florida State vs. Arkansas....

FSU. Its the premier school in the state of Florida, easier conference , so way easier to get rolling there. Arkansas probably does have way more cash, but will they spend it? Plus that job is going to be a nightmare to even get them back to 6-6.
I know you're attempting to troll, but Florida State is not the top program and certainly not the top school in this state...LOL, just stupid.

I'm not attempting to troll at all. I know you hate FSU with a burning passion, but FSU is clearly THE Florida school overall. I get that UF is in the SEC and is currently in better shape than FSU for the time being, but FSU is a better job. Same recruiting resources, easier conference. Sure they may not have the SEC money, but they still have plenty if we're being honest. UF needs to rattle off some championships this decade if it wants to be the number 1 Florida school. Is what it is.

The university is not located in Pine Bluff lol. That's like saying who would want the Michigan job because you may have to drive through Detroit. If you took the northwest part of Arkansas and made it a state by itself it would be a top 10 state in many different metrics. The MSA is approaching 600,000 people so it's not some podunk place like many stereotype with Arkansas.

I stand by my comment. You have to traverse most of the state to get from Dallas to Memphis and it is not a fun drive. In the words of Lt. Dan, "Little Rock is a fine town" but that's about all there is to see. I drove through there a few years ago one time and every rest stop between LR and Memphis was closed for renovations. 30 miles between exits which even had services. Not fun with a couple of toddlers in the back seat which are poop machines.

I am sure Fayetville has its charms-every city does but in terms of the things most 18-22 year olds are drawn to it is pretty far down the list.

More difficult recruiting, tougher conference, financial aspects I mentioned above, etc etc makes Arkansas a much worse destination school for a football coach than FSU.

Realistically they are going to be limited to an up and comer willing to roll the dice or a retread who has bombed elsewhere such as Sabans coffee boy or Kiff. Other options would be having to way overpay for someone like Leach who has already made his bones elsewhere and is looking for a paycheck or taking someone who has serious ethics baggage such as Freeze.

Come on man. As much as I hate the Gators, UF is one of the best public schools in the country. Right now it is a very "it" school for hiring managers in the science and engineering fields.

FSU is, well FSU in many ways, that area is culturally and demographically very different than the rest of Florida. Kind of like Memphis is in Tennessee but has a much different feel than the rest of the state.

You're talking about Little Rock here which is 3 hours south of Fayetteville. Same distance as Fayetteville is to Kansas City lol. I agree that the drive from LR to Memphis sucks though.

Miami’s five national titles (should be six), UF’s three national titles, and both schools’ all-time series record lead over FSU disagree with you.

Wait, I thought Jacksonville was the murder capital of Florida?

FSU by miles and miles and miles and miles and miles and miles and miles

and miles and miles and miles.

FSU was in the NC game just 5-6 years ago or some such.

And, they got that arrangement with the Florida A&M ladies. Sweet deal...

Arkansas is a good place to be if you are a dentist.

I'd say Tallahassee and Gainesville are actually pretty similar culturally. They are both in the northern part of the state, which is still "the South."

The further south you go in Florida, the more northern it becomes. That state starts to become a lot different south of Orlando and definitely is different once you go south of Tampa.

I'm talking strictly college football. I ain't worried about the other aspects of the school. FSU > UF atm. But it wasn't too long UF was miles better than FSU. If FSU messes up this hire, UF will soar by them and reclaim number 1 Florida school. It's simple.

I'm talking about currently, not all time. This past decade, FSU has had the most success. All time it's Miami and it's not even close. But Miami hasn't been Miami about as long as Tennessee hasn't been Tennessee.

Lol at anyone saying the Arkansas job is even remotely close to being as attractive as FSU.

I won't even comment on the apparent "paradise" that is the Tallahassee metro area lol.)

I've never been to Arkansas...but yeah, Tallahassee (and most all of north-central Florida) is a hot, humid dung heap, just like south-central Georgia. The only advantages those places have are interstates and a few crappy airports one can use to escape.

FSU currently has 10 wins in two seasons.

Currently, FSU is dumpster fire with a recent national title under a different (competent) coaching staff that has since bolted Tallahassee.

The “current” state of FSU football is anything but “premier”.

Arkansas is in much better shape financially, has better facilities overall, and is the only P5 program in the state.

But you have to live in Arkansas.
I know we all give Arkansas a hard time, but NWA is beautiful.
I lived on that side of the state for 18 years. They are good people.

I enjoyed Fayetteville and Rogers when I visited in 2008, and the people were in fact nice.

But given a choice I’d rather live in Florida...and that includes Tallahassee.

And to be clear, the Arkansas job has some advantages, but FSU is far and away the better place to be.

Definition of "premier" school has nothing to do with football. It's an overall perception of which school has the top measurable overall. FSU is not even second in the state. UF is so far ahead in both athletics and academics overall it is not even close. Your definition is all about "top football" school, then all 3 schools have something to claim.

Go Gators.

From what I hear FSU is very similar to UT before Fulmer. Lots of potential but the athletic department has been hamstrung by other powers. AD has little influence compared to other departments.
