After looking at their schedule and results, and seeing them play a couple times this year, I just don't see them as such world beaters the media make them out to be. Yes they are ranked #6, but are they really the 6th best team in ncaa? Have they just worked their way up the polls by default? They have a win over Kansas, who at the time was struggling to find identity, and a win over Memphis, for what that may be worth, who knows about them. The rest were a lot of close games against underwhelming opponents. Before you say they had starters out for a lot of the early season, yes I already know that. I just don't see them as very dominating in the paint the way the so called experts see it. Athletic yes, dominating no. Wilbekin is a decent player, but not that scary of a guard. Prather is the one guy I see that could get real hot and beat you. We are 117 in points per game, they rank 170. We rank 77 in shots blocked, they rank 240. We rank 3rd in the conference in rebounding, they are 8th. By comparing rosters, we are as big, and bigger at key positions. I think if we rebound like we should, and usually do, and defend like we did last bit vs Arkansas, we win. All this said, we could turn it over all day, or miss a ton of free throws and get run out. I'm predicting Vols 72 Gators 70.

I hope you are right. I think you will see a game similar to UK in the way it's played out. Vols start out hot. Gators own 2nd half. gators 73 Vols 63

We should own the paint. SHOULD.
40 minutes of perimeter defense and we could pull it off.
minus home court and officiating = FLA by 6.

florida is very, very good. florida is better at home. florida is also beatable.

a couple of things.....1. wilbekin is very good and heck of a lot better than decent. 2. like a lot of florida's teams, it's the sum of their parts.

everyone who plays does bring something to the table that has value. shooters, hustle guys, ball handlers, etc, etc, etc.

the one thing they lack is a dominant scoring big, but they do get points in the paint.

i expect tennessee to play well, because (1) tennessee plays well against florida and (2) tennessee's games where they play flat are not against the better opponents.

It will probably be a repeat of the Kentucky game....out coached in the second half :cray:

We will need to push it into Maymon and Stokes. Patric Young is one of the worst four year starters I've ever seen at a major school. The biggest key is getting to their three point shooters and playing much better at that than versus ky and Arkansas.

If Cuonzo can be out-coached, he will be out-coached.
That's what I'm expecting.

Ok, I think we are going to get pounded Saturday. BUT, I don't think it's that big of a deal (so people shouldn't freak if it happens) I think we have a shot at beating them in Knoxville, and FL is by far the best team we will play this year, imo.

I think we are going to win this game. Our strengths dovetail nicely with Florida's weaknesses. Every year we play Florida this seems to be the case. Maybe it has something to do with the type players that are recruited to Donovan's style of play vs. the type players recruited to play Tennessee's style of play.

Why a coach as good as Donovan has historically had such difficulty with Tennessee is hard to fully comprehend, but the numbers are right there for all to see.

I feel a lot less confident about this year's UF game than the past two seasons'. I think this UF team has gelled very well, and it will be be much tougher to stop their offense. I still think we have the potential to win, but I don't feel nearly as confident about this year.

Donovan is a great coach, and I'm expecting him to pull all the stops for us kicking their asses recently. Obviously cheering for the Vols, you guys know I'm not one to drop in and throw us under the bus.

Stokes must stay out of foul trouble and still be aggressive or we have little chance.

How the officials ref the game will play a good part. Like someone said earlier, Stokes has got to stay out of foul trouble.
That said, fl at home probably by 8 or so but it will look worse than that after we jack up threes and foul at the end.

Florida thread (short)

They are a good team. They have 2 more National Championships than we do in men's basketball.

However; we are a pain in their side. The season's that they won the National Championships, we beat them 3 of the 4 times that we played them.

They will go further as a program than we will but we will beat them 8 out of 10 times that we play them.

We just match up good against them....

The key to this game is getting Young in foul trouble so I would like to see Maymon and Stokes take the ball at Young and run when the opportunity is there.

Donovan is 16-18 against UT so the game should be a good one. This is CCM's first trip to Gainesville as UT head coach.

That's not true.

Yeah, it will also be the first true road SEC game for Martin as well.
