Headed up from Florida to watch the Vols exact about 15 years worth of frustration against UF. I haven’t been to Neyland in 40 forevers and need some advice for parking, tailgating etc. My wife and daughter’s first trip and I want it to be an awesome experience. Any tips are appreciated as it has certainly changed a lot since my last visit. Thanks and GBO.

Hit up barge fest tailgate that the vol club is putting on. Right on the river and a one time experience. Must buy tickets though.

But seriously, park at the Civic Center. $10 for parking, $10 for the shuttle. Easy in and out.

Drink heavily, but discreetly….. and don’t get arrested. I guarantee you’ll have an awesome experience

Are the downtown lots better for walking routes into Neyland?
The downtown lots work great if you don't mind a 25-30 min walk to the stadium. That's what we normally do. Be prepared that it will take a while do exit the lots after all is over due to traffic.

It is fairly flat if you take the pedestrian bridges across Henley and Cumberland.

First one is at Clinch and Locust. Then stay right at the Sunsphere and walk west on Clinch.

Take a left at Clinch and 12th and it will take you directly to the pedestrian bridge that crosses Cumberland. Then walk left or right around The Hill to get to Neyland on the opposite side. There’s more activity going on to the right.

There’s a lot of free parking downtown at the State Street Garage. And there’s another pedestrian bridge from there (northwestern section of the parking garage) to Gay Street that avoids a big hill. At Gay Street, Market Square is about 2 blocks straight ahead on the right.

We will see the same defense OU and Arkansas ran until we move with ease against it. Our defenders will likely see the same type offense the Hogs ran against us as it was effective the whole game. Hog receivers were running wide open with nobody within 4 yards of them most of the game.

You can park at foothills mall in Maryville and Rocky top tour buses take you straight to Lindsey Nelson starting about 5 hours before the game. Wouldn’t have to worry about parking and a very quick walk

Shirley and I always parked at the Market Square garage ($0), arriving by 6:30AM. Then we'd basically stroll around town until Pete's opened, have a hearty breakfast. Stroll around the UT campus, return to Pete's for a lunch, depending on game time, either chat with random Vols fans, Vol navy boaters, or shopped the square vendor booths. Two hours before game time, we joined the pilgrimage to Neyland.

My advice...stay home and spare yourself the misery and expense. Learn from history.

That last statement is absolutely not true. A lot of the completed throws were contested throws where the db was right on the wr. We did have a few busts. One was wide open to the end zone but the qb didn’t see it.

I used to leave my car someplace within a reasonable walk the day before and then get a ride to the game. Free parking and no hassle. Now...I would not use that strategy. But...Ft. Sanders Medical might work. About a 15-20 minute stroll.
