It is really kind of sad that Meyer can't seem to take care of these kids a bit better. After all, the families trusted him...

Florida fans try to distance meyer from this class but Gator sports is pretty specific, this class is his..not Zook's. Embedded in the link is another link to the all of the Gator arrests/suspensions etc...

I'm pretty sure most of those kids will get reinstated as soon as soon as they get out of prison.

How will the gator faithful (lawgator) spin this?

I dont see the downturn considering the recruiting afterglow that's taking place after winning the NC. The best thing that could happen to Tennessee is a upturn for the U and FSU so all that FL talent goes somewhere else.

very good point. it seems that they run in cycles, and it is florida's turn to step down. i think miami and florida state will be much better this year

UT has had it's fair share of trouble with recruiting. Demetrice Morley's class isn't turning out as predicted. The following class wasn't very impressive before over half of them failed to make it to UT.

I wouldn't quite cut off Morley's class just yet. There were plenty of busts, but there are still quite a few players that may be serious contributers and even superstars. The class after was following a 5-6 year and not many coaches can pull a great class after a season like that.

Out of 18, 8 are still there. Of the remaining 10, seems that 2 went to the NFL, one transferred, one guy just quit, and one failed out of school.

By my math, that means that 11 of the 18 have been quite successful, one quit and one failed ot make grades. So that's five bad ones out of 18.

Anybody got a link to share with us as to the state of affairs for the UT 2005 class?

Who went to the NFL other than Reggie Nelson?

8 out of 26 haven't panned out so far. Most of the rest are either starting or immediate backups.

So we lost 7 of 18 and you guys lost 8 of 26. A couple of ours were character issues, same with your squad. I don't know. Can't say that I'm persuaded that there's a UF problem with those kinds of numbers. Wonder what other years are like, is it an anomolous year, etc., etc.

You can probably count on losing 5-8 guys per signing class regardless of the issue. Those who stay, but don't hit their potential are a much bigger issue.

7/18 just looks worse because of the percentage of the class.

Andre Mathis-Possible 5th DE

Mathis is still only a RS Sophomore, right? If so, then he's not really in bust territory yet. It doesn't seem promising that he was moved from LB, though. Maybe next year when we lose 3 DEs he'll get a chance to contribute more.

I am not ready to call Mathis a bust either. He really is a tweener at 256 lbs. But he is only a soph. I just assumed HV knew something that I didn't.

All things considered, I think we all expected a little more from that 04 signing class up to this point. This year is a very important year for those guys.

Why was Ray Henderson kicked off the team?

Evidently he had an altercation with a booster's wife in Chattanooga. There's been a lot of speculation as to how it was handled. Some say he wasn't given a fair shot to explain himself and was booted to make an example. It could be that he really suffered as a result of the many, many, many bad deeds of 2005. He had one of the first negative incidents in 2006 and received a harsh punishment.

Myers and Mathis aren't busts yet, but could be if things don't straighten out. Mathis is still learning DE and is already #5 on the depth chart. That isn't counting if Walker and Martin pass him. Myers is just lazy. He has the tools but not the work ethic.
