We play more ranked teams in a 12 game football schedule than in the 30ish game basketball schedule. WHY???

It just irritates me that you have teams like Ohio State that play one or two hard games a year and we play 7 top 15 teams. I just need to rant I am sorry.

Part of the issue with these "hard" games is that UT sucks right now. If UT was playing well, UF and UGA would have been wins. Mizzou and Auburn would have been more competitive. Bama and Oregon, well.....

I see your point but it still begs the question "What if our schedule was less dense in elite opponents?". Not to throw out all of the top 15 teams, but by swapping out Oregon for Colorado and Auburn for Miss. State then imagine how much recognition and respect Coach Jones would be receiving right now. A program in the early stages of being revived while playing a ridiculously difficult schedule solves hardly anything.

SEC football conference schedule - a lot of ranked teams. SEC basketball conference schedule - not so much.

He would be receiving more recognition if UT was at least competitive. The last 3 games have been a joke as far as competition goes.

I don't see anyone feeling sorry for Dooley last year when UT played UGA, Miss St., Bama, and S. Carolina in 4 consecutive weeks. UT had chances in 3 of those 4 games.

Case in point that the classes recruited and coached in the past 3-4 seasons have been slow, one-dimensional, and lacking depth. Dooley had three years so of course, nobody offered any sympathy to him. In Jones' first year, why apply the same measurement?

Those were top 20 classes and there was plenty of Booom on here when those players were signed.

As far as applying the same measurement to Jones, supposedlt Jones is 10X's the coach Dooley is. Just look at this board all off-season.

I'm not blind, you can clearly see team speed all over the SEC. However, you would have a hard time convincing me that Stanford has more team speed than UT. Look at what they were able to do against Oregon.

I realize speed is just one aspect. Teams like Standford recruit to compete against Oregon, USC, etc. UT needs to recruit to compete with UGA, Bama, & UF.

Hopefully once the depth and speed concerns are addressed the W's will come. However, I still have concerns about the effort put forth the last few weeks.

Since I remember football as a kid, Tennessee has always played good teams and been willing to travel. I'd assume them keep playing anybody anywhere, even in our down years. That's who Tennessee is, not afraid. You remember what happened when they backed out of North Carolina game? I would've rather them lost to them the first game, than to chicken out to only be beat in a bowl by the same team.

No, I don't think that's right. Scholars maintain the reason behind this scheduling phenomena was lost hundreds of years ago.

A lot closer than the score indicates! ;)
