I see that TX A&M has 27 signees and I thought the max per year for HS recruits was 25 with up to 7 potential transfers. How are they able to sign 27 HS players in a year? DId they ask 2 to grey shirt?

No you can take up to 25 (or whatever number the particular school can take that year) + up to 7 of any sort if you have that many outgoing transfers or early NFL entrants.

The rule for the additional 7 is not just for transfers, it is for 7 additional initial counters. They can be HS, Juco, or transfers, doesn't matter. And you can only use them once you've used your original allotment and must use them this year.

It's just that you gain them via outgoing transfers (or early NFL entrants) so some assumed it was only for incoming transfers as well, but they are not. That was just a point of confusion early on.

They still have to be under the 85 player threshold. We’re gonna see a lot of attrition from some of these teams soon as they try to get under cap
