The coaching staff has been working on the playbook this month. In fact, they said it's their primary goal. Coach Cutcliffe said that the passing game and formation make-ups will be significantly different and the running game will remain similar to what is has been.

Cutcliffe said that last season Ainge was battling turf toe which affected Ainge's throwing motion, but it's healed now.

He said he's encouraged by Crompton's work ethic during his recovery.

If they had to play today, Ainge would be #1 and Crompton would be #2 but that doesn't mean that the QB position isn't competitive right now.

Taylor is wanting to make the receivers run and run some more. He said "We're going to run, run and then run some more." Taylor has been using the "Rice Method" where the receivers have to get a penny at the bottom of a bucket that is filled with rice. He got this method from Jerry Rice.

They want the receivers to lose 10-15 pounds and are asking the offensive linemen to lose around 20 pounds or more for some. Cutcliffe wants everyone on the team to be able to run.

He also said that the coaching staff has been working hard at getting things on the right path again, but the players have to buy into it.

So far so good.....

i saw that on govolsxtra....good stuff...i think cut will make a difference before it's all said and done...don't know if it will translate in to a SEC CG appearance or win, but i just can't see us beating ourselves like we did last year again.....the effort and execution should be much better....can't wait to start reading the practice reports.....

Sounds good on paper, lets hope it translates to the field and I thought Taylor was headed to Gawga, guess you can't believe everything you read on the internet.

Yeah, it was a pretty good article. I wish I could post the actual article, but can't since it's pay material. :nono:

So a summary will have to do.

I have too. Freak broke out the red ink on my butt once. Ah, the good ole days.

I'm excited about Troop coaching the receivers and Cutcliffe coaching the QB's. I think that's going to make for some great play.

Better conditioning certainly ought to cut down on the number of times during the season I have to hear about some WR's hammy.

i wonder if the receivers are excited :biggrin2: ? Sounds like they will be doing some work this year....

I also seem to remember reading somewhere that Taylor has a goal of getting the WR rotation down to 5...that would be good.

Cut will do a lot of good for the qb, no matter who it is, and combine that with a set wr rotation, you'd have to think that that would develop some relationship between the two....much different last year where there were two revolving doors....one for receivers and one for qb's.....

From what I've read, a few have embraced it more than others. Some seem to be working harder than others.....mostly the younger guys.

I think they will all welcome what Trooper puts them through. How could they not? They're there to run routes and catch passes. If they don't want to be good at that, they should go so something else.

If they don't want to put in the work then they can be the guys who keep the bench from flying up when the starters come over to cop a squat.
