Who say "Why aren't we getting has many early commitments as our rivals, blah, blah, blah, our recruiters are overrated..." Well, first off, our staff has been put together for about a little over 3 months, which means they are already almost years behind others schools staff. Kids usually arent going to commit to a staff that they just got familiar with a few months ago. It just doesn't happen. And if you really look at other SEC schools commit lists, 65% of all of their early commits are in-state kids. The fact is, the state of Tennessee just doesn't have the in state talent of a Florida, or Louisiana or Alabama, etc. But lets take a look other SEC schools early commits:

Florida: 10 (9 in state)
LSU: 6 (4 in state)
Georgia: 3 (2 in state)
Alabama: 7 (2 in state)

If you don't count Alabama, almost 80% of commits are from in state. And if you look at Tennessee's commit list, there is only one person on it. Guess what state that kids from?

Alabama kinda defeats your own point though.

I don't think our problem is as much in state as some people make it. Sure it's an issue though. I think it's more of the fact we don't have a long standing relationship with most of these kids, and we've proved nothing on the field yet. If we have any success at all, you should see a string of dominos falling.

Agreed. Though a lack of in state talent certainly doesn't help.

All I know is that Kiffin and Co. finished up really strong in a short period this year. I expect him to do equally as well next year.

These same skeptics looked like fools after last year's whining over the recruitng. No need to explain anything to the clueless.

People are too worried about star ratings these days, and getting early commits. Morely and Crompton were 5* recruits, and we saw how they have lived up to the hype. We will be fine. Its only 2 months after NSD for crying out loud. We will build relationships with the kids we want over the summer and next fall. Like was said above.....if we have any measure of success players will want to come here.

I think Morley is a 5 star and is an great player.. It was his talent level or rating that got him in a bind.. JC is a totally diffrent matter though :good!:

Where were we this time last year? JeRon Stokes was our first commit, and that came on April 6th last year. We ended 10th in the nation in recruiting WITH a coaching change that wasn't finalized until early December.

And he decided catching 20-40 passes a year at best in Rich Rod's offense at best was a better career move. So I agree, let's not worry with the April commitment list, let's worry more about the 2010 NSD commitment list.

We are in great shape recruiting wise. There is sokuch attention on our
Program. From what I have read kids are very interested in us,and we are being talked about all over the country. We had a coaching change and ce off one of our worst seasons inuodern ut history. We sewed up a top 10 class and signed the best freaking recuit in the country. We finished ahead of uf in recruiting after they won the nc. Expect great things guys. We will be fine.

I don't except the 3 month excuse.. They had to good of a class this past signing day for that... I do think they will pick it up some though.... I think we will start bring them in when the 100+ thousand fan fill the seat again.. Even Kiff has stated that the fans had a huge hand in last/this years class..

Being together 3 months isnt an "excuse"....its a fact. If people think thats enough time to build a relationship with most elite athletes, then they simply dont understand recruiting. With people already whining about us not having many early commits, it seems CLK is a victim of his own success with the most recent class he pulled.
