I started my new job over at a factory called GR Springs & Stamping. (3rd shift) I'm a machine operator. We're supposed to learn how to use every single machine and they switch us around to different machines every so often. I operated a welding machine and I pretty much know how to use it now. The thing I struggle with the most is keeping up with how many parts, scrap parts, and fixable parts I have cause we're supposed to record our results at the end of our shift. I don't want them to think that I ain't capable of this job cause I love it and this is the kind of work I want to be doing. My question to anyone on VolNation who works at a factory, could you provide me any useful tips to help me get the hang of this a lot quicker? This is my first factory job by the way.

Edit: I misunderstood your question.

Good luck to you. You seem like you care about getting ahead, which probably means you will.

Maybe a not pad? I work in a textile factory, but everything we do has to be logged into our computer system. The work, parts we use, so it takes care of itself. Hope you figure something out. Like said above, you seem to care, that counts for a lot.

keep a checklist or a notebook. Write down each part and put tick marks next to them as you use them. After a while the parts you use will become pretty common place and you'll know if you made x number of items, that means you used a certain number of parts, so it will be easier to track.
