our overall success in regards to our 2011 recruiting class will, IMHO, rely 85% or more solely on the product we put out on the field come September. I dont expect to see us get very many early commitments, as these kids and their families will wait to see what our Offensive and Defensive schemes and effectiveness look like before just taking a blind leap of faith. I know we had basically the exact same scenario last year, but I am more nervous this year cause we dont have the "big name" coaches (Monte, the big dumb cajun, Eddie Gran) that have proven track records to sell. It sure must be nice to be able to recruit like Texas, having 17 commits in March 2010 for your darn 2011 recruiting class. They can have a couple down years and STILL recruit the same. Gotta do it the hard way again boys!

I can think of 95+ schools that would kill to be in our shoes, no matter how muddy they may be.

Winning will help UT's recruiting, no question. I agree that we don't have a coach with good "name recognition" that some other shcools have. Next year's schedule, and the uncertainty of the coaches, will be a problem. If you look at the big "3" in Saban, Richt, and Miles, they had some success BEFORE they came to the SEC. I believe Dooley is a good coach, and hope he does well, but he will not be like Bama and get to the top quickly. It'll take a while and I hope our other VolNation fans can be patient with CDD. Like it or not, we are rebuilding, even though CDD doesn't admit it.

How did Urban Meyer not make your "big 3"?

The O & W game should help. Also you'd think we could pick up a lesser- known commit or two at need positions to get the ball rolling.

Certainly the product on the field will be important, but like him or not, Kiffin created a lot of buzz about Tennessee. Having a new coach (in this case, Dooley) usually creates a bit of excitement on its own, an air of optimism about the future (nothing bad has happened yet!). Therefore, I expect to have the normal amount of recruits by season start.

Then, it will be up to the coaches to put a cohesive, hopefully exciting, product on the field.

If you look at it like that we have 1500+ verbals, they just don't have offers! LMAO. To say its early would be an understatement. Its WAAAAY early. Talk to me in July.
