Stokes said he had eliminated UT when Martin was coach, and then he accidentally answered one of Martin's calls. He said he fell in love with him after that. I've seen chatter discrediting Martin on Stokes' recruitment and saying he was going to be here because of his family member being at UT and his best friend (Cam Clear). Just thought it was an interesting tidbit that he accidentally answered Martin's call when he was going to ignore him.

I don't think anyone discredited him. He had to rerecruit him. However, that Stokes was a UT lean before, absolutely helped.

Clay Travis was saying on Twitter the other day that Martin derserved no credit for recruiting Stokes and that he was, basically, a Pearl recruit.

... & as usual, Clay Travis was/is wrong.

He didn't say that he didn't deserve "no" credit. I heard the quote.

I didn't hear a quote; only saw the tweet below from Clay when Wes re-tweeted it ... semantics I suppose

Stokes was a lock under Pearl. 100% coming to UT if Pearl was here (before any of the NCAA crap). That being said, CCM should get credit for the Stokes being here. Along with a little luck. I believe things could have went differently if KY or Memphis had an open Scholly. We will never know though. Doesn't matter though, Stokes goes in the books as a CCM recruit, so just glad he's here.

Cuonzo was instrumental in getting Stokes here.

I know we all hate Clay Travis. I, personally, never read anything he ever posts/tweets/publishes. You're giving him what he wants, attention.

This I wish people would ignore everything about him, by spreading his vitriol, we play into exactly what he wants.... i.e., keeping his name in the media
