Tennessee Volunteers athletic director Mike Hamilton to blame for NCAA violations regarding Bruce Pearl, Lane Kiffin - ESPN

I started a thread a short time ago entitled "Excellence / Consistency begin at the top" ... seems even more relevant now.

Since taking over in 2003, Hamilton has done what athletic directors do these days: tapped into the reservoir of passionate Tennessee boosters and built a lot of very nice facilities. That's a significant thing. But during that time the football program has become a dysfunctional, mediocre embarrassment. And Pearl, the guy Hamilton always proudly pointed to as his best hire, has let him down dramatically.

Regardless of what you think of the source, it is pretty hard to argue with that point of view.

This is the 4th ESPN writer today that has went directly after Mike Hamiliton. Makes people wonder if ESPN hates Tennessee......

Hamilton SHOULD be fired, but that article was pretty mediocre. Don't appreciate the cheap shot at Dooley.

This is why he should have already been fired, regardless of what happens with Bruce.

I may get hounded for this but where in the article is he wrong? Dooley wasn't the greatest hire and we DID go 6-7 (which isn't bad considering the schedule and talent on our team) but it wasn't the hire we all wanted. Forde's article is pretty spot on. Get Hamilton out and let us start over. Oh and my the way get our sorry baseball coach out too
