Burn a couch instead:

MORGANTOWN, Pa. -- Following big games in one West Virginia college town, couches have been known to catch fire, but police are starting to crack down.

Officials went door to door in Morgantown, demanding residents and West Virginia University students to remove furniture from their porches.

Police are worried about students setting those items on fire following Saturday’s big football game against Louisiana State University.

Students had until Thursday night to remove the items or face a fine.

None of the police have ever heard of the SEC apparently or they would know there is absolutely no risk of anything going down

Sadly the police do this before every big game in Morgantown

This makes absolutely no sense.

Do they only burn stuff after losses? Otherwise, what's the worry with the LSU game?

This whole story is ridiculous. The cops can't properly do their job of protecting and serving the people, so they are forcing people to remove furniture from their own porch on their own property AND threatening to fine them if they refuse. God save this country.

According to SportsNation, 93% of West Virginians disagree. They are saying this is "Just like the Oklahoma game".

I was offered two box seats tickets to this game from one of my clients today and turned them down. I wouldn't step near that place this weekend!!

Reminds me of the time Billy Donovan and Jeremy Foley got their panties all in a twist over Vol Fans storming the court after The Vols knocked off FL in Bruce's first year. They went whining to Mike Slime who promply issued an anti-storming edict.

I work in Charleston, and these people are up in arms about this game. Nevermind the fact that they were 15,000 shy of a sellout two weekends ago to their biggest rival Marshall.

I went to that game (I live in Parkersburg) and there were alot of empty seats there! Pitt is by far their biggest rival tho, can't really consider a team that has never beat them a rival!

I stand corrected. But considering that it is an in-state rivalry, the attendance was very disappointing, even before the rainstorm.

I agree, it was sad. Not sure what the deal was tho, could have been the weather, could have been being on Sunday? You would think tho, being the first game, and being Marshall, it would have been sold out, especially, with a new HC.
I hardly saw any Marshall fans there, guess they're tired of getting their asses kicked by big brother! Last year was their best chance, and they blew it!!
