Just wondering what everybody else thinks?

I've said it once, I will say it again. I hope the NCAA burns the Barn to the ground.

Without evidence the NCAA so desperately needs against AU, this investigation will end just as soon as the meeting is complete.

Auburn's attorney will paint him as a disgruntled former athlete who is trying to get revenge on a program that he thinks harmed him. NCAA will agree, but will look into the other allegations as part of a routine followup.

My take. Wouldn't mind them finding something, though. Plus, unless Chaz can't go deeper than "some random guy would walk up to us and give us money," I don't think they can hang it on the University.

The NCAA really doesn't need "evidence". At least, not in the way that most people think of "evidence".

Every school in the SEC needs this to go way, especially AU's neighbor east Mississippi.

Yep. The story I've been told is he sued the university before and didn't win so now he's just trying to stick it to Auburn.

Ramsey definitely has an axe to grind. And if he were the only one saying that he got paid, I'd have a tough time believing him.

However, SMU got taken down because of a former player with an axe to grind. So we shouldn't dismiss Ramsey outright.

So you are referring to the Albert Means saga? Please don't go there.

As said by a previous poster...

The NCAA is not going to proceed with a full speed ahead investigation against Auburn just based upon "some random dude gave me money" quote.

Names are needed, which he obviously doesn't have or possibly he isn't legally represented as of yet to handle all of the lawsuits that will be filed against him once he spills the beans.

It's quite possible that something is going on behind the scenes at Auburn but it's going to require someone with knowledge of the events in question to turn themselves over to the NCAA investigator for them to pursue further against that University.

So why isn't Chaz Ramsey held responsible? If he knew what he did was wrong then why did he take the money!

I was thinking more like USC. The NCAA almost exclusively proceeded based on the word of certain witnesses. Those witnesses backed each other up, but they did not provide a paper trail. The NCAA came to their conclusion because Reggie Bush failed to provide evidence to refute the claims. In a court of law, the defendant is never required to prove that he didn't do something, the plaintiff or prosecutor has to prove that he did. Not so with the NCAA.

Please don't take this as me saying that I don't think Reggie Bush got paid, because he clearly did.

If he was still playing college football, he'd be declared ineligible. But since he's not, what authority does the NCAA have over him?

And what's your point? Auburn shouldn't be penalized for the violations because the players were more than happy to take the money?

Don't they need to prove coaches and administration knew about it? It would be hard to prove IMO. Also need to find lack of institutional control? Money handshakes.

I believe that is almost the definition of "lack of institutional control". The institution has to be able to control it's players and boosters, so they should know if any of this is going on.

I hate Auburn with a passion, but this is disgusting. Kid gets a free education, treated like a rock star, free gifts, etc he turns around and craps on his alma mater. This happens everywhere! Keep your mouth shut and don't be a snitch.
