A lawyer in VA is claiming he gave money to two athletes last year, and now he is suing both athletes for the money to be returned. Jimmy Williams formerly of VA Tech, now with the Falcons, and SHAWNE WILLIAMS, A Memphis Tiger last year, now with the Pacers, are accused of accepting money. Williams reportedly accepted $55,000, and Williams $50,000.

I am sick of hearing we were the SECOND best team in the state last year, because we didn't beat the how did Dane put it, oh yeah "GANGBANGERS" last year. And what made it worse was watching them honor that COWARD DeAngelo Williams and give him the key to the city. Maybe when this all plays out they will have to forfeit the games he participated in.!!

Sorry for the rant, but being engaged to someone who worked in the athletic department at U of M, and living in Memphis last year and hearing everyone down play all of the accomplishments of our team, I just have to look at this information that is coming out and just smile.

Not going to happen. The attorney in question has already withdrawn his lawsuit, probably because someone clued him in that to be successful in the suit he would have to admit to violations of the Tennessee Criminal Code. This story will disappear.

The local story is the attorney threatened to sue, and Williams called his bluff. The suit was filed 11/8, then withdrawn with heavy speculation "someone" paid the attorney his $50K.

Since he asked that the suit be dismissed "with prejudice" we'll never get the real story. So you're correct, even with the NCAA investigation no one involved will ever talk or be forced to talk.

shawne williams was from memphis, my question is how did some lawyer from virginia get involved with him? the whole thing is sketchy...welcome to college atheletics. players get paid in every top program and bear bryant set the standard, what did he say? its not cheating its winning. or something to that nature. anyways this story is going to be like tennessee's tutorgate. backlash from success that eventually disappears.
