Former Ohio St Coach Jim O'Brien to DIII Emerson

I knew you'd say this.

Keep in mind that Bruce provided burgers and dogs... not a big wad of cash.
Keep in mind that Pearl has never been to the Final Four and doesn't have friends in the coaching profession lining up to vouch for his character. O'Brien can check both those boxes and this is still where he ended up.

I think ole Bruce can look forward to being an assistant for awhile unless he wants to coach High School.

no way Bruce becomes a college assistant. He wouldn't do it, and no coach would offer him. And I highly doubt any NBA coach would be interested in having him as an asst. either, since his only contribution would be to Press and play transition ball, and when that doesn't work to blame it on the team's lack of size and/or speed

Pearl also hasn't sued one of the most renowned universities in the country. I can't imagine many schools looking forward to hiring a coach who may someday take them to court.

well neither of the things you added are true. Two D1 schools have hired Pearl since he taped a player, and coaches all across the country repeatedly lie to the administration, fans, players, donors, NCAA, investigators and anyone else that had a conversation with him.

So the first time (taping a phone call with recruit) it took him nine years to get a D-1 job in the Horizon League; I wonder how many years it will take after lying to the NCAA?

Only time will tell.

My bet is, I'm willing to bet it won't take more than two seasons away.

O'Brien sued Boston College and Ohio State. He sued BC for slander after he left for OSU, stealing their best player in the process.

The NCAA actually dropped their show-cause order on O'Brien in 2008, but after suing two employers for doing nothing more than react to his unethical conduct, he wasn't ever getting another D-1 job. Jim Harrick has a better chance of ever convincing someone to give him another shot.

O'Brien is going to have work to do. It's a lot harder to meaningfully cheat in Division III.

it's going to be funny when bruce has a job as soon as the fair-and-balanced ncaa allows him to work again.

Exactly. Pearl is in MUCH better shape as far as getting another job than O'Brien ever was. Not even really comparable.

O'Brien was Mike Rice turning down the job away from being the Rutgers coach last offseason. Let me know when Pearl comes close to getting a BCS conference gig.

So he almost got the Rutgers job, but couldn't get one of any of the other countless D1 jobs over the last 3 seasons so he settled at a DIII job?

That seems unlikely.
