Former Vol Charles Morgan passes

Charles was high school teammate of Reggie White. Came to Tennessee with Reggie but quit the team after the Alabama game in 1980 after being named most outstanding def player in the game by ABC. Charles later transferred to Miami but never played pro football. Lived on Chattanooga & worked for the Boys Club there. RIP.

A good man. One of his brothers used to work for me. Hard working, good people. Charles was a better player than Reggie at the time he left UT. Who knows what would have happened if he would have stayed in Knoxville. That would have been a brutal defense in 81-83 seasons with both of them. RIP. Prayers for family.

Watching this defense this year I had thought of him several times but could not remember his name. He, single handedly, blew up the Bama offense that cloudy day in Knoxville. I had always wondered what had happened with him after he quit that next week. I heard some say that Majors blasted him for playing out of position and he quit. Prayers for him and his family. Great memories of him and the MOD.
