Read this in the Tennessean. It said he has two banged up shoulders and wil have surgery on his knee in the offseason which will probably make him unavailible come spring. :( :banghead:

yeah I read that! I hate to see him miss any practice. He could use the practice to learn to hold he ball better and block better. All in all he has been a great backup this year and i'm sure be a great lead back next season. I think the vols should have the best running in the nation next year. Foster, Williams, Hardesty, Coker, and Yancey damn that is called depth at tailback. Ive read that Coker could be the best of them all. I think I might have missed somone but oh well.

Crap. He could use the practice. He's almost on the verge of being great

He is, I think the challenge of not stepping up but stepping over is what could separate him. Is it me, or does he just look to be average. IMO, he does nothing fancy. He comes off as a runner, no huge size, no, get a step on you and he's gone speed.

He gets his shoulder and knee fixed, he makes it back full song by mid-spring we got ourselves a nasty punch.

Hardesty, hope his rehab goes nice, Coker has a chance, from what i seen in the spring, if he still has the ball at the point of contact, he can punish would be tackles.

I dont think its that important, if Foster isnt ready by opening practice. Let him recoup from his surgeries, though i believe he'll join the team on field, day 1.

He said himself, he's played this game since he was 7 years old, I have to step up, Im ready!

Whoa Nellie.....average? If he were average, why has he outgained Riggs with fewer starts? He is potentially one of the best RBs we've had in 15 years. No, he's not flashy and no he doesn't have 4.3 speed. What he has is vision, good horizontal moves, a helluva stiff arm, patience to find a hole, outstanding instincts, determination to get the last inch, a solid TEAM player and a desire to win that no one else seems to have on the offense.

According to his mom, he'll be ready to go by June.

Because he played against inferior defenses?

I think he's going to be really good, but let's see how he fares against the "meat" of the SEC before sending in our Heistman votes.

Regardless he wasn't just the 'run up the middle' kind of runner. He had great feet and great vision to see holes. He kept going, he was patient, and he waited for the line to do their job instead of just going straight for the defenders. I saw a lot of potential in his footwork and vision.

I believe he did quite well against a pretty good bammer defense. In regard to his run up the middle ability, tell me who has run up the middle well with our offensive line's productivity in the past few years? One thing that Foster is good at is being patient at finding a hole. We haven't produced many holes for any of our RBs recently which is why Riggs wasn't successful this year. Foster can make something happen when it's not there, Riggs could not.

Again, I think he looks good. Greatness will only be determined after the challenge of a bruising season against the tough frontlines of the SEC. It is unfortunate that he's so banged-up. Being new to the offense, it's too bad that he'll have to be out for a while with surgery and the ensuing rehab. Given the uncertainty at QB, it would sure be nice to have a solid back we could count on.

Come on now IBO24/7. He had 273 total yards against Vandy and should've had 299 total yards against UK. Add to that 5 consecutive 100+ yard games and he is way better than average. Is he Reggie Bush? No, nobody is but he has stepped up and should only get better. Foster has also been playing with a banged up knee and 2 bad shoulders. I think he's been great.

naysayers! the man WAS the ONLY highlight to this season. great vision and patience to find the open field. something riggs couldn't do all year.

Foster will be the cornerstone of the new offense.

We will see run, run, run, run, and then some more running then the passing game will finally come around!

Does anyone know the extent of the surgery. I missed the press on that one. I have heard that both shoulders are ailing and a knee?

I want to say it's not that bad. But it's going to be bad enough to miss spring practice. He will be fine when he comes back

Torn meniscus in his left knee and shoulder seperation problems. The meniscous will be scoped with a short downtime. The shoulder surgery will be done in mid-January with a 5-6 month healing and rehab period. He'll be ready to go when pre-season practice begins.
