overblown? No way. Everyone needs to be pampered, loved and treated like they own the world!

how many games would Bobby Knight have gotten?

On another note - why did Martin leave KState?

There's a difference between having a foul mouth and flat out being abusive just because you can. It amazes me that there are still coaches that think treating players like dirt is an effective motivational tactic.

I followed this since I live in the area that covers K-State. Former Tennessee Assistant AD John Currie took over as AD at K-State and has done a great job with raising money. Apparently, he and Martin did not get along well. It all escalated in the 2nd round of the 2012 NCAA Tournament when K-State player Jamar Samuels allegedly took $200. Currie got word of this and suspended Samuels for the tournament due to potential violations. Martin went off on Currie. He also got a little bit of a raise ($1.5 vs $2M per).

Martin is a Miami guy and everyone speculated he always wanted to get closer to Miami, which is his main recruiting base. No one ever guessed he would leave for SCjr.

He was a good coach / excellent recruiter - who was hired by Huggins (I believe straight from his high school job) during Huggy Bear's only year in Manhattan.

Did USC not know what they were getting when they hired this guy? He has a reputation for being one of the most ill tempered coaches in all of basketball.

Or you know, the player could answer the question instead of just standing there.

Oh they knew. They just didn't expect the profanity to be broadcast live. The suspension was just a touchie, feelie, PC move by USCe.

You hit the nail on the head.

To me, he's exactly the opposite of what you want when you're program is way down and you're trying to get fans and players to buy in. That act is only endearing when you're winning.
