Fred Thompson dismisses immigration bill; French proving to be smarter than Senate

Fred Thompson hit the nail on the head: the immigration bill will fail because we, the people, dont trust our Senators:
Thompson . . . said the bill will not win the support of the American people because they dont trust senators promises to block illegal immigrants from crossing the Mexican border into the U.S.
Nobody believes them. It goes to the bigger issue of the lack of credibility our government has these days, said Thompson, who was greeted with hoots and applause from the 2,300 convention attendees who filled a ballroom at the McCormick Place convention center.
Meanwhile, as much as it pains me to say it, the French are showing more sense than the U.S. Senate:
Frances minister of immigration and national identity, a new ministry created by President Nicolas Sarkozy, has ruled out legalizing undocumented immigrants en masse.
Instead of promises of amnesty for lawbreakers, how I long to hear these words from a majority of Congress:
We have to put aside massive legalization. It doesnt work and it penalizes, even immigrants, Brice Hortefeux said on Europe 1 radio.
How depressing is it that even the French get what our thick-headed members of the greatest deliberative body on earth dont?
Dear God, can our Senate possibly look any worse?
Addendum:
France intends to step up its enforcement activities, expecting to deport 25,000 illegal immigrants this year.
I guess George Bush and Lindsey Flim Flam Graham havent yet informed the French that you just cant deport huge numbers of illegals. Gee whiz, what are they thinking!?!
Fred Thompson in 08, if Billary wins I am moving to Texas where they have already said they would break off from the Union and become an Independent Republic!!!
