Helmets...no


But it looks better than Arizona State's awful helmets last night.

After last night's XFL competition between Tech and Okie Lite, I guess this will become a national trend. I personally appreciate tradition a little more.

The only 2 advantages in doing these crazy alt uniforms are:

A. The players these days are fashionistas to a certain degree

B. Recruits like it.

My argument to that would be if you're that concerned about how you're dressed, how much faith can I have in your mental focus on actually playing the game. Its football, not Halloween.

I'll give them credit for the uniforms looking like normal football uniforms and not a lot of stupid piping and side stripes. And I'll give them props for not doing a black or gray uniform (though they already did a black uniform).

But otherwise, whoopty-freakin-do. You have a new uniform; you have a new helmet. You and 50 other teams this week. This whole new uniform unveiling has become beyond cliche.

Looks like Butch's recruiting acumen does not need to include XFL/Arena league uni's as a sales method. He is getting top ranked commits to the legendary O & W notwithstanding a lack of chrome/matte/orange helmets.

Eventually the new uni market will become so saturated that throw back original uniforms will become fashionable.

I hate chrome helmets in general. I dont care what team or what color chrome. They just look tacky.
