Well, it doesn't hurt as bad as last year
Last year was heart breaking. This year was just frustrating. Our defense couldn't get off the field. We had 3 turnovers in the red zone. We deserved to lose. Big time.

What sucks the most is the perception of us around the country is whenever we run into a big, physical defense we sputter. Which isn't why we lost. We lost because of our defense. But that is not how it will be percieved around the country.

And ya know what? Maybe it's good we lost now. The team that showed up tonight would get pounded by Bama.

Yes, there are many reasons to be depressed.

1. Our national title hopes are over.

2. MM's heisman campaign is over.

3. If Mariota leaves, this was our last year contending for a national title for a couple of years.

4. We lost yet another big game. We will have to hear about how we can't beat a good defense until we do it, which may not be for awhile.

Reasons to be happy:

1. Stanford is going to lose next weekend to SC, putting us back in the driver seat for the PAC 12 north.

2. We have a shot to play Ohio State in the rose bowl, which would be a blast.

3. It's just a football game. As much as it feels like it, this result does not reflect on your personal manhood haha. You guys are still awesome.

I know it's not what we wanted, but playing Ohio State in the rose bowl would be fun. So lets root for a Stanford conference loss! Lets just have fun. In the end, it's just football.

and to thank they wanted Bama.hahaha!

And to think, a lot on here thought they would run all over Bama. Oregon's defense is soft, can't handle the run game and has no idea what to do when a QB who can wing it a bit can run some too.

On offense, they got introduced to containment. Let's face it though, Stanford prepares for this game every year from day one and it shows. Guess it preps them for all the others but they know the game plan to stop the Oregon flag football offense.

I bet so many bandwagon Ducks fans have no idea how to handle losing.

I disagree...

They have been getting bandwagon fans for a couple years now.

They have 0 National Titles

People are trying to get on before they win one so they can say, "I've always been an Oregon fan"

Perception ain't REALITY--but Oregon DOES historically sputter and lose against big, physical defenses who can run like Auburn in '09, LSU, Stanford.

Stanford's Defense did:

1. Limit the Quacks to < 70 yds rushing when Oregon was averaging > 320 ypg--Is that perception or reality?
2. Stanford limited Oregon's offense to 13 total points--when they averaged >50 ppg…Is that perception or reality?
3. Mariota had -16 yds rushing, being sacked 3 times…
4. Oregon fumbled 2 or 3 times--and it was because they got HIT in the mouth--they didn't willfully put the ball on the ground to lose…

When's the last time that happened to the Quacks??

The Thomas fumble wasn't a big hit. Mariotta has to protect the ball better.

Oregon's lines on both sides of the ball got dominated. They have to recruit better in those spots.

Say what you want but Oregon's kryptonite is a big, physical team. Stanford is kinda like Bama west coast. They pounded the ball down Oregon's throat.

Thomas is USELESS if he can't run away from a tackler--he'll be a receiver or kick returner in the NFL. And that #11 from Stanford DID give him a decent lick and easily took the ball away from him with one hand...

Mariota looked like a deer caught in headlights last night--and was running for his life--

The bottom line is that Oregon doesn't have the guys on the Line of Scrimmage to line up and play physical football against those who do.....

Where did I say it came at the 9th game of the season?

just a loss this late into an undefeated season would sting more than say the almost annual loss in the 3rd game vs UF and then winning out

I haven't seen, has the Oregon D coordinator cried about Stanford still trying to play in the 4th quarter?
