some thoughts:
1. Philadelphia has really good media room food.
2. Syracuse is one consistent inside player away from being deadly. Johnny Flynn, Paul Harris, and Dontae Green are exceptional.
3. Villanova has serious defensive issues. They make Tennessee look like the late '80s Pistons.
4. Terrible loss by Kansas State. You can't follow up a win over Kansas with a loss to a totally depleted Missouri team if you want to be taken seriously.
5. Impressive win for UCONN. Their suspensions are starting to look like addition by subtraction.
6. Nice win for Texas Tech. They are at least showing the ability to win at home.
7. Marquette seems to have found their footing. Hammering Cincinnati on the road is a nice win.
8. George Mason looks like they are posed to be a dangerous team in March again.
9. Tony Barbee's wealth of knowledge of Memphis' personnel and tendencies must have really helped UTEP today.
10. Among the media types at the Nova-Cuse game, Tennessee-Mississippi State was getting a great deal of buzz. Only UCLA-Arizona seemed to be a bigger topic of conversation.

Good stuff Hat. I agree about UCONN. I went to the Memphis game and it seem like Tony B. knew what Cal was going to do on ever play and he had hes players in place to make plays. It didn't help that just about ever player today for Memphis was off today, they couldn't shoot for crap today, nobody. Hey, what are the chances of AZ winning tonight in your view? TIA

ucla's seperated themselves from the rest of the pac-10. 2-9 are all pretty good in teh pac-10. only one team has a chance to do something in the tourney

UCLA is really the only one built to go deep, but the rest of the conference is pretty strong.

by the by, UCLA has separated them from much of the rest of the nation as well.

Thanks Hat. Just curious what your media creds are from? Are you freelancing somewhere or changing careers?

They're issuing them to me as a writer for Volnation.com. Apparently, UT is about the only school in America who has looked at this site and doesn't consider us a "legitimate outlet."

Almost every SID I've worked with has had wonderful things to say about the professional look of the site. It's a great credit to the work and effort Freak puts into Volnation.com.

So I assume you have contacted UT and got the cold shoulder? Can you elaborate any? That is disappointing.

As I understand it, UT's policy is to not credentials to websites that don't have a "print component." Aside from being an utterly outdated view of how information is disseminated, I find it laughable that Volquest is allowed to consider those ridiculous yearbooks Rivals publishes as their "print component."

I do find it interesting that the current #1 ranked team in America will grant Volnation.com media credentials, but UT won't even allow us to interview their coach.

That just blows my head Hat, it really does. It would seem UT would be more than willing but I guess not.

Very cool. That's a big credit not only to Freak but to you as well. Seems like the board is attracting more basketball fans (not just UT fans).

Also interested in the possible career change. Keep us posted.

How many unique users visit Volnation in any given month? If that number is higher than the circulation of any sports rag, that should settle it.

Yep, VN has expanded a lot even since I've joined, with a different variety of fans and other features
