It's kinda amazing how when there is any adversity people are so quick to go full 180 on this team. It happened to a certain extent with the FB team but with the BBvols it's been even more nuts. The past few days I have seen threads talking about how this team is overrated, how Bama was going to beat us senseless and Barnes should be fired. People bashing Santi because he had a couple bad games. In his career Santi has been the reason we won 20x the amount of games he was part of the problem we lost. This is not Football where one loss wrecks a whole season. There is no universe where this team does not go dancing and any team that makes it there has a chance. All that matters TBH is how you end in basketball. You don't have to be a top 4 team to win it all. You don't even have to be ranked. Losing games is part of basketball and it is extremely rare for a team to end a season with less than 6-8 losses. UCONN won 2 Natty's in season they ended with 8 and 9 losses. NC's last one they had 7 losses. Kansas ended last season with 6.

Not saying we will or should be expected to win a natty. I am saying we have had some bad breaks and just because our team had a couple bad games does not mean we bail on them and start bashing them.

These are forums and everyone is free and welcome to express their opinions and feelings here. This is me doing the same. My point here I guess is criticism is great when it's constructive. So instead of maybe coming in whining because the team lost and your friends laughed at you let's break down the games maybe see what went wrong and how it can be fixed? I see a lot of that in the world lately people are quick to complain about things and how they don't agree with how they are but give no real solutions to fix said problem. Where I'm from that's called *itching

Funny how loud those people are when we lose, but nowhere to be found when we win. It’s just as well. They don’t deserve success. Tonight wasn’t their win.

Fans just vent with social media. It could be that they simply care. It's no big deal. A true fair weather fan doesn't really care. Just goes back to talking football. The fans that are too sensitive to handle the least bit of negativity amaze me more. Maybe, it's just that they care too. Doesn't make them better fans though. Everybody reacts differently.

I think most people would just like to see some consistency. Going one and done in the tourney doesn’t cut it anymore.

True fans will praise and criticize. But we have a segment that only criticizes, and if you don’t see it, then I’m sorry. It’s not being too sensitive- it’s clear as day. And there are many “sunshine pumpers” who can and will acknowledge the team’s flaws and concerns.

I honestly think there is more to discuss and breakdown after a loss but I know the ones your talking about. Only show up after a loss and completely trash the program and Barnes.

Exactly. There are plenty of Negative Nancies and trolls that only appear after losses. And it isn’t hard to tell that they are just chronic complainers. Probably that way in other aspects of their life too. Miserables and they know who they are.

It's the way their brain is wired. Obviously some people are able to change their mentality. But most can't. They see everything they is negative and point it out constantly because subconsciously it makes them feel like they are not the only ones that are a failure. They never praise success because seeing others have success reminds them that they are not successful. So they ignore it. Morale of the story...ignore them completely because at some point they are contagious.

Thank you for listening to my Ted Talk.

Least bit of negativity? “Least bit”? C’mon, Man. You negative guys are in chronic meltdowns after EVERY sub par performance.

I was taught that if you don't have anything good to say then don't say anything at all.

That said, constructive criticism along with some light humiliation helps people learn and grow from their mistakes.

But, I agree that anyone who turned on the team should have their fandom questioned. Could be trolls from Alabama, etc.

I haven't seen anyone bail on them. They just aren't a top 10 team in the opinions of many. I'm not sure they were ever expected to be either.

Regardless, we play better when we are not on top and not getting the hype. So, with that said. Our team sucks. 😁

how is that in any way related to regular-season losses midseason? The tourney is about how you end. Those losses will be lessons that could very well be what they needed to make a big push.

The problem is they don't break anything down.. that would be constructive and interesting. They just moan and whine and want to fire people or bench people.

I guess you missed all the meltdown, mattress-burning threads that follow losses. And UT most definitely is a top 10 team and will probably be top 6 again if we win @rupp this Saturday. We have more quality wins than we have bad losses in fact of our 6 losses 1 was by 5 points 2 by 1 point.. our 'blowout' losses were 12 and 13 points...We have given up 75 or more points only 3 times and only one team has scored more than 78 on us. How is that not a top-10 team? We have beaten Arizona, Kansas, Alabama, and Texas all top 10 teams We also beat Maryland when they were ranked 13. Our losses have been mostly because of injuries. yes this team is very limited offensively but that's what a season is about getting those other guys ready to step up so once we are healthy we are clicking on all cylinders right? I am confident this team will make a decent run in the dance. Barring injuries.

Simply put, this team is better hunting than being the hunted....

Our defense is top tier and will keep us around in all games. Just hope we got all of our bad shooting nights out. Lord knows we've had enough to ensure we don't have any in postseason lol

WOW.... maybe you have identified a need they have that all of "US" MORE BALANCED NEARLY PERFECT posters should assist them with. I bet they would be appreciative of sharing our amateur psychoanalyses skills to assist them with their REPETITIVE NEGATIVE amateurish coach and player offerings. Must be what they are after since they are crying out over and over and over and................................. If a half dozen or so folks did that every time we might help them defeat their demons. Sure seems like the unselfish VOL thing to do..... Maybe ask them probing questions about their youth or issues with any current personal relationships to get to the root cause of their obvious issues.

Do we have any mental health professionals that post that can provide us guidance. Bet they would really get into that. We should not let a free speech opportunity pass us by.

Before Barnes arrived we weren’t consistently having 20 win seasons either. Sure everyone wants to go deep into the big tournament but that is not as easy a task as some make it to be. But we have a coach that is consistently getting us to the tournament, the more you bang that door the more likely you will bust through. Forgive me , I got just 1 question for any that are in the Fire Barnes camp. Who are you going to hire that can sustain what Barnes has done and is guaranteed to expand on it quickly???? Give me Coach Barnes all day long at Tennessee. GBO!!!!

I completely agree with you but we lost to Arizona
College Basketball teams lose games... its not football.. where its normal for a few teams to got all season and only lose 1 or 2 games. 5-6 losses is not abnormal for a really good team to lose 8-9 games in s season and top teams 5-6. I mean Was anyone really expecting this team to be a final 4 team or something? We are a top 10 team but this is a weird season all the top teams have a good number of losses. Outside of Houston everyone in the top 5 has 4-5 losses... we beat number 2 and 3 and 9 we lost to 8. OF our * losses 5 of them were to teams currently ranked in the top25.. it's not all gloom and doom and in most ofl those loses we were missing some combo of JJJ, Santi and Philips to injury.

People also tend to discount the role of injuries in relation to performance. I really can’t recall a season in the last 2 decades where Tennessee basketball has absorbed so many injuries to significant players. The constant shuffling has certainly added to the inconsistencies we’ve seen along the way, which of course, directly correlates to losses.
