FSU on probation

They just reported it on ESPN too....television that is. It's pretty big sanctions....forfeits, loss of scholarships, etc...

It also says in the story that Bowden is going to lose pace on his chase for the most victories because there's no knowing of just how many wins they'll lose out on. Kind of sucks really. Wish it was the Gators.

I think they said they have to forfeit all games from 05 to 07 so thats around 25 to 30 wins if I'm just assuming.

The scholarship reductions are a joke. Academic fraud is very serious to the NCAA, but only losing 6 schollys over 3 years is a slap on the wrist.

What really is the kick in the gut, though, is the forfeiture of wins. It means that the NCAA has decided that daddy bowden will never catch JoePa.

And rightfully so. Bowden has skirted the rules for years.

Well guess, Bowden's gonna have to keep signing those one year contracts and hope Joe Pa, retires if he hopes to retire with the most wins

I doubt either retires. We'll all be dead and they'll be thawing JoePa in the cryogenic freezer at halftime to get his instructions.

The debate raging down here is whether FSU ought to offer to trade more schollys in order to preserve wins. The pro camp says that Bowden built the program and they ought to do what they can to let him keep his wins and the possible all-time total wins title.

The con camp says that sacrificing future schollys and therefore future FSU performance is not justified by helping out Bowden, especially since he's stayed too long to begin with and because his lack of diligent oversight and rather laissez-fair attitude over the years is, in part, what caused this situation.

FSU is becoming irrelevant.

They are in danger of sliding into obscurity, that's for sure. What with Florida's success and a resurgent Miami program, plus increased competition for recruits from USF and to a lesser degree UCF, the FSU recruiting system is taxed to the limit.
