Why on earth the Prez would talk trash to Bama before the game. Doesn't he know you let sleeping dogs lie? Talk **** AFTER the game if you win.

I hate to say it but I hope even Bev Davenport would know better.

FSU has the horses to beat Bama.

Many teams have the horses to beat Alabama. Their talent is extemely overrated. The problem is most coaches are terrible and can't out coach Saban. Football is a sport where coaching can make a huge difference.

To beat Alabama you need to completely abandon the run and try to tire them to death by throwing it all over the field. That is how Ole Miss beat them two years in a row and how Clemson nearly beat them twice in a row as well. Both teams had less talent than a team like LSU for example but had more success because of superior coaching.

I think FSU will lose cause they won't be as dedicated to trying to gimmick their way to a win like Clemson and Ole Miss. They might think they can beat Alabama by playing Alabama's game. That's a quick was to get beat.

Once again you blather ignorance. Coaches did not have near as much trouble beating Saban at MSU or Miami, places where the talent levels were similar with the opponents.

The TALENT is his advantage.

Yeah his #1 recruiting class for like 7 years in a row has nothing to do with head to head matchups? Lol By the way Alabama turnovers led to ole Miss beating them. Clemson had a stud dual threat qb. One who makes the back end of the defense respect his running ability and he hit with incredible accuracy and precision down field. Sure Saban makes good calls but his deficiencies aren't seen that often because if the wrong call is made he has 8-11 pro caliber players on the field to mask it.

lol

Depth is a component of talent. They are consistently deeper than any team in college football. There are only a handful of teams in any given year that are comparable on frontline talent, and they are deeper than anybody else, including teams like Ohio State and Clemson.

His degree from Duke is overrated.

They've had the #1 recruiting class for like 8 years in a row. That's not overrated. It's fact.

I'm gonna tempt fate here and try and rationalize what D4H is saying...

In any given year, there are a handful of teams that can match up with Bama on frontline talent. It isn't necessarily the same 3-5 teams every year, but there is a group of teams that have comparable talent. Hell, a healthy Tennessee team last year was actually in the same ballpark with Alabama on frontline talent. Not equal, but at least within striking distance. In that sense, the talent gap between Bama and other teams is "overrated."

However, that's a very narrow view of the roster, especially in an era of rotating guys on the defensive and offensive lines, rotating running backs, and changing coverage schemes throughout a game. You have to have guys behind the starters who can't just only "play" but actually be contributors. And Bama, every single year, even in years where they won't win titles, is deeper than every other team. Period.
