Fullbacks seem to be a dying breed but there are some big atheletic ones out there who have to take a scholly wherever they can get one. Instead of moving a TE or lineman to fullback, why not consider these atheletes for potential lineman? Same can be said for oversized LBs.

Just a thought, what do ya think?

I think every warm body we have should get a shot at the DL after last week.

I think instead of recruiting athletes that can move around, we should look for talent at a position that just needs work.

Dont think most FB's have enough speed to play LB. In the past, UT converted RB's to LB.

Creativity.Imagination. What's that? IMO,anything that works.I'm even to the point of moving 1 of our 3 rotating running backs to be a kick off returner. We need help back there as well.

I meant give oversized Lbs a shot at the line.

Yeah my bad.

Are you talking about changing the defensive scheme, to a 3-4 and make one of the outside LB's DE?

I think UT should think about changing the scheme based on the opponent. A 4-4 against Arkansas might have helped in the first half. Let the corners cover man to man on the outside with safeteis supporting them.

I'm wasn't really talking about current players, I was talking more about when recruiting. And yeah I'm with ya on changing schemes!

crimedawg,

That's an idea I've loved for a long time. Even better is if you're talking an FB or TE who has played basketball for a while as well, since I've noticed they have footwork and agility that's usually a TON better than those who are simply huge (whether or not the non-basketball player has quickness or not).

We have plenty of athletic returners that could wreak havoc if given the opportunity. The problem we have is setteing up a return with good blocking. The special teams are just not well coordinated. The returns are set up well. On punts, we don't defend returns well. It's been a problem for many years now.
