If we win the next 2 and go to the SECC game, we'll be in the Citrus or Outback Bowl. This was a new agreement by the SEC since the loser of the SECCG is basically screwed anyway. So If'n we win out, no Peaches for us this year.

Come on, please say you haven't already given up hope on an SECCG win? Ole Miss gave 'em hell 2 weeks ago for 3/4 of a game! (And they didn't have Ainge or Schaeffer. . . .)

NOT Tennessee.

The teams being looked at by the Peach Bowl and the Music City Bowl are South Carolina, Florida, and Alabama.

Unless the Vols lose to Vanderbilt or Kentucky.... they'll be the BCS (win over Auburn) or the Capital One, Outback, or Cotton.

That's what I thought last year, AllVol, having tied for the East Championship and being in the BCS top 10... didn't happen.

My understanding is that the bowl pecking order can only take a "lower" team if it is within 2 games of the team above it. Last season, an 8-4 Florida team was chosen over a 10-2 Tennessee team. Even with the 8-4 record, Florida was 15th in the BCS Rankings. The SEC chastised the Outback Bowl for making such a pick and threatened to not renegotiate their contract when it comes up again.

Auburn 9-0 with games remaining against Georgia, Alabama, and SECCG.
Georgia 8-1 with games remaining against Auburn and Ga Tech.
Tennessee 7-2 with games remaining against Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and SECCG.
LSU 6-2 with games remaining against Alabama, Ole Miss, and Arkansas.
Alabama 6-3 with games remaining against LSU and Auburn.
South Carolina 6-3 with games remaining against Florida and Clemson.
Florida 5-4 with games remaining against South Carolina and Florida State.
Arkansas 3-5 with games remaining against Ole Miss, Miss State, and LSU.
Ole Miss 3-5 with games remaining against Arkansas, LSU, and Miss State.

projected final records if "favored" teams win... and projected bowl
Auburn 12-0 Sugar Bowl or Orange Bowl
Georgia 9-2 Capital One or Outback
LSU 9-2 Cotton
Tennessee 9-3 Capital One or Outback
South Carolina 6-5 Peach
Alabama 6-5 Music City or Independance or Houston
Florida 6-5 Music City or Independance or Houston
Arkansas 5-6 NONE
Ole Miss 4-7 NONE

Unless upsets occur, only 7 teams will be eligible from the SEC this year for the 8 bowl slots. Some projections have the Cotton Bowl taking Notre Dame instead of an SEC team?

Maybe Arkansas can upset USC.

Unless I'm misreading this . . . That game was last week.

That's dumb--a yankee team going to the Cotton Bowl. I can't remember the last time I saw a cottonfield north of Tennessee. :eek:lol:

Does anybody remember when the Southwest Conference was thriving and the Cotton Bowl was a big deal?!

Maybe I missed it but did anyone answer Volbrian's question?

If not - of course he is referring to Whaaalabama. Believe it or not, they've never gone to the Peach and the Peach is salivating over the large numbers of Bammers that get in their RVs and go to games. Given it's been a bowl drought, those Bammers will go anywhere (even to the Weedeater if necessary).

Can you imagine "Saddam Osama Fulmer" being announced as COTY in front of that crowd -- Priceless (oh I guess they are Price-less - another COTY candidate  )

I'm an idiot... I meant Ole Miss? Now that won't do them any good b/c they lost to SC... you're right, we're not going to have enough teams bowl eligible.

I always thought the Cotton Bowl should have been one of the BCS games instead of the Fiesta, with all of the retoric about preserving the tradition of the bowl games and all.

The Fiesta gave the highest bid... I think. The Cotton just barely missed out on being one of the BCS bowls.... but then again, either the Rose, Orange, or Sugar would have been out?

Seems to me that the Rose would RATHER be out... they are always trying to get the "traditional" Pac10-Big11 Matchup, rather than the best matchup that can be made.

I think the Rose was pretty much guaranteed 'in'. If it was 'out', they would definately lose the Big 10 and Pac 10 champions since both those conferences have contracts with the BCS.
