I agree with the leaner, quicker offensive line. However, I am concerned that we have 2 of the top 3 players being walkons at an important position like center. Sometime you are able to cover up limitations at center with experienced guards but we do not necessarily have that luxury. I hope these youngsters make plays and hold their own but no matter how you slice the current situation at center, it is a concern for me and I think the coaching staff as well. Thoughts?

I think conditioning played a big part in auburn's turnaround under tubberville. as a team they look leaner, stronger, and faster then most teams they play. :hi:

The O line is one of the biggest question marks for me going into the season, quite honestly the depth does scare me. Hopefully with the line trimming down, that may lead to less injuries. Who knows though.

Was Bill Bates a walk-on at UT? I know he did at Dallas. He wasn't a lineman, but you can't argue about his value. Sometimes players slip through the cracks, grow after high school or turn down offers from other schools for a chance to play where they want. Your concern for a solid center is valid, because it is the most important position on OL. However, I would point out that UT's centers have traditionally done well, even in their first year in the position.

This will be one area where CPF will prove whether or not he's lost his touch with coaching the O-Line. In the past, Phil has shown that he can develop a center earlier than most people expect. Here's to history repeating itself!

I think we have 2 big ?s as far as personnel. DE and LB. We should be fine at DT, DB, WR, RB, QB, and OL.

I just want to see lineman staying at one spot throughout the year. None of this hoping and moving around. Choose a spot for the players and leave them there. Injuries aside...that is.

They usually have to move around because of injuries. Right now, though, we have 2 main LTs(Sears and Scott), 1 main LG(Ligon), 2 main Cs(McNeil and Frogg), 1 main RG(Parker), 2 main RTs(Young and Jones), a dual guard(McLendon), and a utility OL(Foster). Jones likely won't play much and McLendon may RS. Scott may find it tough to find minutes. Our top 8 is probably Sears, Ligon, Young, Parker, McNeil, Frogg, Foster, and Scott.

Especially at center. Josh needs to step it up and claim that position.

Seems to me that with the lack of depth at guard, combined with the positive impact McLendon has made thus far, he might see some minutes this year.
