During offensive line drills on the goal line, Phillip Fulmer got in a four-point stance and demonstrated precisely how things needed to be done, providing some pointed verbal-encouragement as well as plenty of hands-on instruction.
Fulmer has been deeply involved with the offensive line since camp started, and today was no different.

I hope that it helps but the offensive line play is a sore spot with me. I think that unit has been consistently disappointing based on expectations going into the season.

They just seem to fail to get outside and block for our rb's as well as not being able to penetrate the defense and pick up a much needed yard or two on critical downs.:disappointed:

I agree with freak and utfan. The o-line has killed us the past several years with thier inability to block and protect the pocket.

Amazing how many people just don't have a clue.

Fulmer loses 40+ pounds, and people still make fat jokes trying to be cute.

Come on O2 . . . You've got to admit that the image of an overweight guy in his mid 50s down in a 4 point stance is pretty funny. Sort of like that thread the other day with pics of Sylvester Croom dressed out in pads with his gut hanging out. I'm sure CPF would laugh at it if he ever saw a picture of it.

OS, you gotta get off the "Fulmer Lovewagon", hoss. It's one thing to be an ardent fan and loyal supporter.....it's another thing entirely to swoon over a head coach taking a "hands on" approach to training his team. That's his job. It's not headline material. If it is, then your remark serves as an indictment for his previous coaching methods.

Whether we like CPF, or don't, we're all pulling for the Vols to have a great year. Personally, if Phil wearing a Speedo to practice will bring a 10-2 season, then I say go for it. Just don't tell me about it, and please no photos.

Go Vols.

Visuals aside, I'm glad Fulmer is taking a more hands on approach. Given his experience, you'd think we would have better O-line production than we've seen in the past several years. Maybe this is one step down the road back.

Anybody disagree with Fulmers reasoning that he doesnt have time to coach the offensive line? Surely he can make time for it. It seems to me that we have a coach who was once a great recruiter and is apparently a great O Line coach. Wouldnt we have the pick of 5* and
4* OL's if he did coach that position?

Possibly... I think the first step to getting better recruits would be developing the players we currently have - which Fulmer seems to be paying more attention to.

Yeah I agree with that, I just find it frustrating that a lot of our problems this last few years have started with the OL. I like Munoz but damn he was overrated. :ermm:

barely any coaches do position coaching on top of head coaching. If they do they dont spend much with the rest of the team. I think its good to have him working with the line, no one can say he is a bad o-line coach.

spurrier is his teams QB coach and offensive coordinator, Richt is also his teams QB coach. I see no reason why he shouldnt do it.

It's one of those things that sounds good, but I think it would be tough given the the number of directions a college head coach gets pulled in. Most of them already wear too many hats as it is.

You replied to it, so you must find it important enough to garner a few seconds of your time. I posted it because I'm sick and tired of Nega Vols bashing every move he makes. It's hard to bash the fact a man that makes over 2 million dollars is down in a four-point stance teaching 18-22 year olds how to play offensive line. It was proven to be hard to bash him, when the only thing people could bitch about was how fat he is, and how silly he must look. Thank God some of these people aren't the coach. I'd hate to think they wouldnt do what was needed because they are worried what they might look like.

You can call me a swooner, or any other thing all you want. You can pretend that it's a negative by saying he hasn't been doing it before, but the fact remains the WINNINGEST ACTIVE HEAD COACH WITH 10 or MORE YEARS EXPIERENCE, is out there litterally coaching his ass off, while the blind NegaVols that hate him because "the drunk" isn't still coaching here or any other fabricated reason can only make fat jokes.

I bet you're jealous of Vickie.

Quit crying!! He makes 2 mil a year. You're upset because he's lost 40 lbs and nobody can tell. Fulmer losing 40 lbs is like Erik Ainge losing 5 lbs.

We're not Negavols and don't hate him. But if we were Negavols and hated him, it wouldn't be because he's fat.

I love how you all cry about my support.

My support for him is more of my dislike for immature stupidity than it is any type of love for him.

It's childish and ignorant to attack a football coach as successful as Phil Fulmer because of his weight when it has nothing at all to do with one single loss at the University of Tennessee.

Nobdy here can tell because they haven't seen him since he lost it. People here live in their little bubbles thinking they know it all, when reality is, they don't have a clue. They either think they do, or they are lemmings that follow what others say instead of waiting to see for themselves. Fulmer has lost weight, and when those of you here finally are able to see him, you will notice.

By the way, I'm much more jealous of Courtney's boyfriend than I am Phil's wife.
