There is an article in today's Sentinel regarding Fulmer's thoughts on the Vols season. Frankly, he continues to amaze me in a bad way. I seriously believe that he is completely delusional about the Football team.

Here are a few quotes from him which back up my statement:

"WE WERE 17 POINTS AWAY FROM BEING 9 - 2"

speaking about the qb situation and there lack of effectiveness Fulmer said

"THAT MAY HAVE BEEN MY RESPONSIBILITY FOR NOT ESTABLISHING A CHEMISTRY THERE".

The vols were a touchdown away from losing to LSU and possibly UAB. Morever Memphis gave the Vols all they could handle. I think that it is foolish to say that a team such as the Vols was 17 points away from anything. No one knows how the games would have a played out with a play going one way or another. It is all speculation.

And the QB situation, Fulmer "may" be responsible........ Well who the heck made the call to play 2 QB's all year???????? I guess we will never know.

I found the whole article as an indictment against Fulmer. Injuries, execution, penalties........ blah blah blah........ How many times do I have to hear that........ Lets just say it....... the offense was poorly coached and has been for a number of years. I wish Fulmer would say nothing at all since he continues to spread the same manure that he always does.

I find this exciting, Phil, in his EverState of "coulda, shoulda, maybe" is, inch by inch, digging his own grave. And seemingly thinks it's a swimming pool.

Let him preach this nonsense.

He'd better hope Chavis and Cut save his sorry, delusional derriere. :mf_surrender: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

What do you expect him to say??? Do you all think it was something different than execution injuries and penalties? Last I checked, ol' Phil wasn't out there dropping TD passes. He wasn't getting the penalties.

You can coach all day long, but unless they decide to man up and go with it, nothing you say will help.

There was a problem that was found too late, and they tried all year changing things around to fix it, and never found a good fix. Why else would the almost SAME team go 10-3 to 5-6? Obviously the coaching worked last year, and I doubt they changed much..so osmething's gotta give. Some of you guys just want a scapegoat. Just someone to blame.

i expect him to say we were terrible on offense last year and our defense kept us in alot of games. i'm to blame nobody else i will do whatever i have to make sure this never happens again. i should have made coaching changes sooner, but i was hoping things would work out. next year if we have a similiar result i will resign my position here at tennessee siting that i was not able to do the job i was payed to do. all i'm asking is for is one year for me to show you guys that i'm your man and that is can still lead the program. throw your support behind me and i will not let you down. now he could have said that, but instead he makes excuses and sends me a letter telling how sorry he is, that is why i'm not optomistic about next season. don't be sorry fix what you broke.

Well said, a little Truth in the wake of a ton of denial would be enlightening.

But we didn't get that from Phil, did we? :(

I first realized that Fulmer was in denial and out of touch was when this fall he was recorded as saying in one of the fall practice videos that the one position he wasnt worried about was the qb position. He wished every position was in as good shape as the qb position, or something to that effect.

If thats not a statement from a coach who is out of touch I would like to know what is.

He also ignores the fact that we could have just as easily lost to UAB, Memphis, and LSU by about 3-5 plays as well.

Agreed.

The thing I like about Fulmer is before he starts making excuses, he always prefaces the statement by saying he's not one to make excuses. LOL

what do you guys think? i could be phil's spokesman. he sure needs one so he can quit making all the excuses he always comes up with. it seems like the only thing he can do is make the fans mad by beating around the truth. the whole problem with all of this is that he still thinks he did an excellent coaching job. and then he sends me a letter telling me that he is sorry. that is alittle messed up.

I heard Pearl on the radio after the OSU game talking about how poorly coached the team looked that game. Interesting difference in philosophy there. I've never heard Fulmer say that though everyone else does.
