You all seem experienced on Fulmer. Would he be fired during the season or at the end if things go as bad next year?

as much as i hate to say this, fulmer will be around here for a while as long as we dont have 1-10 seasons or anything like that. his contract is so large that any buyout would not be tolerated by the AD...

i think it will take about 3 seasons of 6-5 or worse to get rid of fulmer, its a painful process.

Fulmer is fine right now. If he has a repeat performance next season, you can officially place CPF on the "hot seat" list.

I agree. Guys, CPF's contract is so big and expensive that it would really be a financial burden on the university to buy him out. Look what happened when Buzz was bought out with his contract. The university had to get a loan to pay off Buzz's contract. CPF's contract is much bigger than Buzz's. Why do you think CPF pushed so hard for his own raises? Remember the big raise before the bowl game that everyone was wondering why CPF got and we ended up losing terribly in? CPF has done well to set up his financial future. Of course with Hamilton's help. That's what one expects in a good ol' boy system.

Phil did get a line on a new special teams coach this weekend. He is a big time NFL guy currently coaching the NY Giants special teams. (This weekend, his guys allowed an NFL record 300+ return yards / 2 TDs to the Vikings. Now THAT is the talent we should be pursuing. After all, he IS in the NFL, right? And NFL coaches are ALWAYS better than college coaches. At least, that's what some on this board seem to think. :biggrin2:

i don't know if we don't see improvement next year he may be forced out. when you lose the backing of the boosters and lose season ticket holders, hamilton will have no choice. hamiltion has alot of bills to pay fulmer has already lost some of his backing, he better be competing for the sec title next year or he is in trouble.

I think your right, and one thing Fulmer has going for him this year, w/exception of the USC game, is the schedule was brutal, and got even more brutal as the year went a long...

Next year, all the toughies except UGA and USC are at home.

Lose to UF, Bama and LSU at home, and UGA and USC on the road, things could get rough around here...the 4 game stretch between UGA, Bama, USC and LSU could very well be the pivotal point in his career at UT...could anyone stomach another 4 game losing streak?

Well it just depends on how motivated the people with the money get should things continue to go further down hill....i have a feeling if push came to shove, someone could get this done....

If he somehow manages to lose to Florida, at home, and early in the season, I say he doesn't make it to Halloween.

If he loses to Florida, Alabama, and Georgia again next year, I'll place a friendly wager that he's gone before the 2007 begins. Not fired, necessarily... but gone nonetheless.

Bobby Bowden and JoePa are the only coaches in the country with that kind of clout.
