This reminds me as much of a Fulmer type season as I’ve seen since he last coached. People used to Hammer Majors about three and a cloud of dust. People used to complain about Fulmer getting a lead and sitting on it waiting for a “break” to occur.

Either way, yes or no, it sure is nice to be this far into the season with only one loss and top 10 and, playoff hype!

I don't think he's wrong. It would be a lot of fun to lay a 30 point loss on everyone, but there's a lot of talent out there, and it's going to get shuffled around a lot moving forward with the portal and NIL situation, so domination every week isn't going to happen as much in the future for any school (except weeks when you have a true miss-match). If we need to play field position and win by one score - so be it.

Lets take the win and look forward to this coming week. Lets get healthy and peak during playoffs.

Bring back the golf clap the the mustang defense.

And didn't Tennessee beat Florida? That's very un-Fulmer like

I'm not going to complain about the season when Vols are 8-1.....they haven't played to perfect ..... but good teams find a way to win games....
I wld love to see every game TN plays end 48-0 / 50 it's not
going to happen...I think this tea

I'm not going to complain about the team when they are 8-1 the 1 loss to a team on the road ....good teams find a way to win that's why you play the game .....not going score 40-50
Every game but the win is more important than style points
This team is way more complete team than 2022 when we scored 50 on most teams and hoped the defense
Cld get 2-3 stops a game and Vols wld win...I watched teams Fulmer and Majors and I don't want to back to those seasons
CJH came and started at Zero
Fulmer and Majors wasted more talent than Coach Hyp has had ....I appreciate what we have CJH and team on field
GO VOLS!!!!!!

I somewhat agree with OP but, Heupel isn't finished building this team. I feel like Heup's story at TN is only in chapter 2 with several chapters yet to be written. Future looks bright.

Agree and I will take it. Heck, Georgia fans are complaining right now about their offense as well. Just a weird year and they happen. It has been a good season whether Tennessee ends up making playoffs or not.

The NIL and transfer portal sure makes it seem like the talent is more spread around; similar to the NFL. Vandy can be seen as an example of this. Good post!

I remember before the season started, most prognosticators had Tennessee losing 3-4 games and not making the playoffs. I don't see them finishing worse than 10-2, with a real chance of being 11-1. There were also quite a few on here that predicted 3-4 losses.

Is Tennessee a team of over achievers, or are they better than many thought they would be? I think most experts thought we lost too much to be where we are right now. A lot of new faces on the team, but they have played their way to a 9-1 record to this point, not always pretty, so, they won't earn a lot of style points, but that's okay, still 9-1.

The comparison I see to Fulmer teams is the offense starts slow/sluggish and the defense has to step up and keep them in the game. You can get by with this playing lesser teams like Ms St but better teams won't let you come back if you get down too much. If the defense gives you the ball close to the red zone, your offense needs to score
