Fulmers candidates to replace Pruitt

“I am not (at) all advocating a change in football and hope we do not get there with pending issues,” Fulmer wrote. “I do believe we can overcome our challenges, and I have seen signs of progress.”

Coach, I love ya, you gave us the 90s, I know you bleed orange, but -- come on now.

I cannot access that article so who would have been the favorite to replace Pruitt?
Former UT quarterback Tee Martin, Auburn coach Hugh Freeze, Florida coach Billy Napier and South Carolina coach Shane Beamer were on his list of 16 potential candidates. Cal coach Justin Wilcox, a former Tennessee defensive coordinator, made the list. Former Alabama offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien, who is now in the same role with the New England Patriots, was also considered.

Others were former Austin Peay and Charlotte coach Will Healy; Cincinnati coach Luke Fickell; Iowa State coach Matt Campbell; Army coach Jeff Monken; Utah State coach Blake Anderson (then at Arkansas State); Liberty coach Jamey Chadwell (then at Coastal Carolina); Virginia coach Tony Elliot (then Clemson offensive coordinator); Duke coach Mike Elko (then Texas A&M defensive coordinator); Buffalo Bills quarterbacks coach Joe Brady (then Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator).

And so was an unknown coach named Alex French.

That he was totally willing to continue with Pruitt after the disaster that was 2020 speaks volumes to his competency as an AD.

I know it's the offseason, and you could start a thread over the best bean fart you've ever had, but if it were up to me anyone who started a thread about Coach / AD Fulmer or Coach Pruitt would have to spend a week in a locked room with evil lawyer.

No...I'm not kidding. It's over. They're over. Let it go. Good Lord.

Go Vols.

Ha: I very strongly suspect that Fulmer--who, let's recall was the sounding board for former chancellor Davenport on matters athletic---helped to sabotage the Schiano hire--with the help of fans, of course, along with feckless moralists in the state legislature--which in turn sabotaged AD Currie, which Fulmer no doubt knew might help him get the AD job. It did--Davenport hired him--and then Fulmer turned around and hired not only arguably the worst coach in UT history but a guy who broke scores of rules and got us sanctioned pretty seriously by the NCAA. I think that was around the time that the word "cluster-f--k" was first coined!

Can we not have 27000 threads on the ncaa and related stuff. This is boring, then don't read it buddy you say, and rehashing stuff that really isn't interesting. Filler stuff I guess. This is 3rd or 4th maybe 5th thread on this mess that needs to he put to bed. I made a comment in first thread and now hopefully, closing the book here.

All coaches he'd have power over and could meddle with, like when he'd sneak in some line coaching with JP's teams. Yet somehow, he was apparently clueless to what was going on. (Which I believe, but it shows he was completely inept for that job)

Thanks for sharing that list.

I would have taken Campbell, Chadwell or Freese of Auburn from that list.

it's not like he gave us those glory days for free. UT has more than rewarded and honored him. Bottom line is that his failure as AD was just like his failure that led to his ouster as coach, he put Fulmer ahead of UT football's best interests.

At least I haven't seen any "best BBQ" threads started.

Says the fan whose football employees are literally killing their players, along with themselves. $8 million is chump change compared to that $40 million coming down the pike at UGA; not to mention what the OTHER football employee, the one who survived, will get.

I know it sounds crazy...but, depending on how ugly that gets down there...if it gets UGLY UGLY, even Kirby won't be able to survive it, imo. It was a terrible tragedy, brought on in a massive way, by someone who was on his staff, with another staffer seriously hurt, as well. What do you all think that girl is going to say about the whole shabangabang, UGA's going on's, not just about the accident, if she has to fight with her lawsuit? I'm not saying this is going to happen...im saying it has the potential to burn that place down.
