You guys know what?? We suck as fans!! WE HAVE BEEN SPOILED AND WE EXPECT AN SEC AND NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP EVERY YEAR!! and guess what, who spoiled us?? The guy you put on the chopping block after every loss!! Johnny Majors didn't spoil us, Phil Fulmer did.... We want to cut off the head of the very man that made us great!!!

LOOK AT YOU'RE OWN POSTS.......all I hear is "we haven't done anything in the 90's, we haven't been in SEC Championship games since 98" Guess what, our offense went down hill. Randy Sanders destroyed the offensive power we once were. (especially the last 2 years) HE'S GONE, Fulmer made the changes, made some wholesale changes all across the coaching board. Give it time. We have had 3 games since the changes. 2 wins and 1 loss by 1 point to a top 10 team.

HERE IS AN IDEA.....if you can't be patient and not gonna support the VOLS, go pull for Spurrier or jump on a bandwagon.......cuz you show no loyalty at all.........and once again, we don't need that when we have a proven winner who (is his fault) let our offenst deteriorate and now he has done something about it....we are young as a team, our lines are young.......just relax and be true to a man who has gave everything to the University of Tennessee!!

AND one last thing......CUT didn't have any say in our recruiting the past 3 years and I think he has done well with what he has got.....here is UT FOOTBALL summed up now...."WE ARE CLEANING UP THE MESS THAT RANDY SANDERS PUT US IN. PERIOD

The last thing we need is to fire him and hire a nobody to run is into the ground more.

Let the ******* year play out.

hatvol has been calling for a firing for years.

everyone else hopped on the firing bandwagon yesterday...

I guess Randy Sanders didn't give everything he had to UT. Wasn't he here over 20 years? Maybe someone should never have given him a responsibility like offensive coordinator that he wasn't equipped to handle.

The team is playing well. The coaching staff have done a good job this year. Very few if any are calling for "Fulmers head" now.

I think that's what we have to step back and look at. The majority of the fans weren't looking for a NC championship this year. I know I wasn't. I'm just looking for overall improvement and it's there. Like I've said in other posts, the lines and the RB's need step it up, but overall, I think we're heading back in the right direction.

Ainge is looking better, not perfect, but much better. The receivers are night and day compared to last year. I've noticed a lot of second effort this year, I don't recall much if any from last year. The Vols are making some big plays this year etc etc...

They just have to keep plugging away and taking away some knowledge through their experiences. I've said it before and I'll say it again, 2007 could be a special year for us.

I agree, their is a night and day difference between Ainge this year and last year. Last year he near the bottom in passing efficiency now he is at the the top. Cutcliffe did a great job with him.

I can't see criticizing the coaching staff for a 1 pt loss in the final minutes of the game to Florida. Very close game that could have went either way.

It wouldn't be as bad if we got blown out by 30. 1 point. We were so damn close. Thats why everyone is raising hell. Just give it a couple days.

These post that "TELL" fans how to act are ridiclious too.

Please if the man wants Fulmer fired thats his thing baby. If you want to give him a hand thats your thing baby. But don't tell another person there not loyal, or there a bangwagoner just because you opinions don't match. That's pretty ignorant.

If everyone in here thought the same about UT Football would there be any need for this message board?

I am no fan of Fulmer and it would not surprise me to see him ousted if the season goes downhill from here like it did last year (I don't think it will, there's a different dynamic this year, Cut in particular).

But make no mistake. If you force out a guy who really built this team up because he loses some close games in the SEC, guess what you are going to end up with as a replacement? I'm telling you from experience its about three years of a scapegoat/sacrifical lamb. It gets ugly and REAL frustrating.

Could be that you have to go through that to return to national prominence. But be sure you are ready for it because it is no fun at all.

I mean lets look realistically. If Tennessee (GOD FORBID) started going down hill now, and Fulmer was on the choping block at seasons end. The first name you'd hear for Head Coach is Cutcliffe.

Me I have no problem with Fulmer. He led us to a undisputed National Championship, not many coaches can say that. Our last championship before that was 1951. I'm just stating theoretically thats what would happen.

So whats that out of 7 coaches 2 have led us to the promised land. My only thing with Fulmer is the Trademark CBS shot of him when something goes bad for Tennessee: It goes something like this:

Step1: Remove Headphones
Step 2: Put Headphone under left armpit.
Step 3: Golf Clap

That gets on my nerves so much.

The Vols got ZERO yards rushing last night--NONE, 0, Zilch. That has got you encouraged? florida dominated every statistical category, and really UT was very lucky not to have got beat by 14 or more. Except for the interception call, UT got most of the breaks in the game. the gators missed two fgs, while UT made a 51 yarder. The gators had one td called back, and would have had another were it not for Colquitt tripping the punt returner. The OL was horrendous! Cutcliffe will help--if there is any talent. Fulmer does not pay enuf attention to special teams, and is not aggressive about them--still a big problem. and last I checked, it was Fulmer's fault that RS was the OC. He hired the guy--and then kept for far too long, until the bottom fell out of the program. And let's not forget a 1 point win over Air Force. So I'm not quite sure where all this rosy optimism is coming from. :hi:

I'd hate to see a knee jerk firing because of a couple of bad seasons.
Granted, last year was a shock to the system but I can already see an increase in intensity this year. I think CPF is well on his way to fixing what's broken. For my part (just me), 9 regular season wins and a decent bowl game would sure take away the bad taste.
On the other hand...firing Fulmer now could quite possibly lead to several disastrous years for UT football.
I can't forget what's happened to Nebraska, my favorite "other" program. Osborne had them spoiled with 3 NC's in 4 years. So when Solich didn't deliver right away, they couldn't rest until they canned him. One of the things the Big Red boosters forgot was how many times Dr. Tom lost the big one before it all came together. The other was what finally put them over the top. A solid defense finally to go with that powerhouse offense, thanks to Charlie McBride (who retired soon after Osborne).

You think so? We will play Bama, Florida and California on the road. We also play an improving Arkansas and Georgia in Knoxville

We will lose our three top receivers Meachem(almost certain to come out), Swain and B.Smith. We also lose Ligon,Sears, and Cory Anderson on offense. On defense we lose Harrell, McBride, McGlothin, Marvin Mitchell, Anton Steward, J. Wade and likely Inky. Wilhoit will also be gone.

OWB, I don't want to be a Debbie Downer type but for heaven's sake will replace those guys? I look for a 5-6 loss year unless we bring in some super Jukos and freshmen.

It's really not all that bad...Florida still have to play LSU, Auburn, and UGA and you never know, they could slip up against SC. Aslong as we can win some games and just play our game, we can't ask for anymore. You never know

He does have a point in the begining of his argument. I had jumped up and down just because it was Florida, but ya know I think we aredoing just fine other than the loss and the running game, which will be addressed more than we can talk about on here. I am sure coaches are working to help that out. Let's just be patient and see what happens. I still think this year will be special

I don't hear a lot of people calling for Fulmer's head right now. The year is young, and we had a huge emotional win to start the season. Florida looked REALLY GOOD up front on D. Maybe they're really, really good. Or, maybe we made them look good.

Let's see how things look in November before this argument continues, eh?

I guess it's in the way that you choose to look at it and I can see your point. Let me try to make mine.

Our top rated recruiting class from 2 years will most likely all be on the field next year. First we have Ainge who will most definitely keep improving under Cutcliffe. We'll have Foster, Hardesty and Coker all returning with Holbert at fullback. We don't know that Meachem is leaving for sure, so as of now, I'm including him in next year's plans. So along with Meachem, we'll have Briscoe, Hancock, Rogers, Shelley and Taylor. They should be more than capable of stepping up and filling the shoes of Swain and Smith.

At tight end, we'll have Brown, and both Cottam brothers returning.

On offensive line we lose Sears and Ligon, but we add McNeil to center and McClendon along with Ramon Foster, Parker, Richard, Chris Scott and Eric Young. (I know I've left a couple out, who did I miss?)

On the defensive line, we'll have Ayers, Bolden, Fisher, Mapu, Mitchell, Nelson, Reynolds and Williams along with a couple of others. Sure losing Harrell hurts, but that's happening this year, not next.

Linebackers we'll have Karl, Mayo, Mathis, McCoy, Wilson and Myers-White.. enough said.

You're right about the secondary, with Inky in question, it will take a small hit. But it will still be anchored by Morely and Hefney along with some other talent that just needs a little experience. Do we get Fellows back next year?

Granted, we don't know that everyone I listed is going to stick around, but I think that most will. Most of these guys are getting some experience this year.

So looking at what I've provided, do you still honestly think that we'll take that big of a hit with players leaving?

DB's a joke, Spurrier ran all over you all back in the late 50's.

Give me a break. Spurrier also won a Heisman Trophy, so I'd guess that he was a pretty good football player. Too bad it seems like Science Hill hasn't beat us since the 50's. We are one of the winningest programs in the nation and are currently ranked #1 in the state.

Some guys like Chris Scott and Demonte Bolden need to step up and live up to their hype. You think Trooper can coach the OL and DL next year?

Nobody seems to mention that D. Morley got lit up. He hasn't lived up to his hype either. Where are all those guys that were saying he was such a baller friday night?

I agree. At this point with some of them, I'm going strictly going off of potential. The coaches still have to teach them and the players still have to work hard.

I'm just assuming that with Cutcliffe back, the work ethic is just going to be there now.
