CPF today said that the only difference between us and LSU was: (1) QB play and (2) Defensive Line.

He said that we are not where we have been in the D line most of the time, and that is having a large affect on our team. I suppose the QB play was in reference to Russell vs. Crompton, a RS Frosh.

I was really surprised that he didn't mention anything about our O Line.

That would hit too close to home, he would not want to implicate himself being an old OL.

I continue to say that game was lost on the DL. UT has no natural runstopper, and its best defensive lineman is really more suited to play end in this defensive scheme.

I am in the minority on this board regarding the QB play in the LSU game. I have seen Ainge miss as many open receivers as Crompton missed in that game. Crompton managed the team well enough to win.

All in all those are pretty candid statements from CPF. He usually doesn't disclose so much. I appreciate the candor.

Isn't saying that LSU's D line was the difference in the game saying the same thing? I didn't see the teleconference, but I agree with him. Their D line stopped our running game and got occasional pressure on our QB. Our D line had trouble stopping the run and pressuring Russell. Of course, that is just like saying that their O line was able to protect and run block, while ours was not.

LSU won the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. However you sing it, it is the same song.

Yeah, on the defensive line with a 4-3, one of the DT is suppose to draw the double team or occupy 2 offensive lineman. He is suppose to be larger and stronger then the othe DT. Its usually the left DT, since most teams protect the QB's blind side. UT doesn't have that player after Harrell went down.

Right on Lex. I totally agree with you on the EA comment. It's not a knock it's the truth. After the first series for Crompton he really settled down and looked like he had total control over the whole offense. I was also amazed at his arm strength. possibly the strongest since Shuler.

You are correct J. It is not a knock. I was severely beaten down the week before Ainge was hurt when I was calling for a snap or two for Crompton.

The word I am hearing is that people around the program recognize the depth of Crompton's talent. If anything, I was pissed about the four called screens Cut seemed determined to run in the first half.
